*Best unit to recruit for warring is the cavalry.  In open field battles, their charge bonus means they are overpowered compared to other troop types.  If you are a monster hunter, then range units are best since you would take less casualties.

*Don't skim out on healers.  They are worth every gold coin and I personally would recruit as many healers until all my wounded are always healed.  If any of your wounded men dies, you are not hiring enough healers.  The number does depend on the type of unit and quality so test it out.  The maths works out dependant going into battle at least once a week.  If you are in a less battle intensive realm, then... change realms.  :P

*Get 3 scouts per 20 men + 1 scout for shorter travel times.  Not been extensively tested personally but seem to work.

*Army Formation Warring -

Archers front/line/defensive.  They shouldn't be in any other formation at all or need to have the formation changed often.  Archers should always be front because they do more damage the closer they are to the enemy and once the melee start they are out of the battle so need to get their use in early.  Why I can't stand seeing infantry wall formation and have them wasted in the middle row doing their little damage already.

Infantry - will depend on the enemies formation.  Usually prefer to have the infantry in middle position so let the useless archers upfront get shot up but do their little damage to wear down the enemy then step up for the real battle.  If you are attacking that tends to mean your army have a higher CS, infantry should be in box to take less casualties.  But if they don't have a lot of cavalry or maybe a lot of archers, would be better to go in line.  Lot of variables to take in account of what formation to use.  When Marshals are giving out orders, best to have the infantry formation above the others since infantry troop leaders are the ones that need to look at changes in formations more than the others.

Cavalry - Wedge/Aggressive and Rearguard or Back depending on the situation.

*Army Formation Monsters -

Against monsters best is for infantry to go box and cavalry to go line since their fewer number means  a tendency to overkill and do not require the additional damage for a more offensive formation.

Facade Slaymaster

Profile

The eldest brother and the more thoughtful and cautious of the three brothers, Sir Facade has a thirst for knowledge on all matters of warfare and command the most fearsome troops in all the realms, the Sirion Elite Guards.

Early History

The great great great great great great great great grandson of the legendary Slayer Slaymaster was born in Westmoor and was a minor nobility living in the poverty of Westmoor on 13 gold a week. With defeats after defeats as was the nature of the dysfunctional Westmoorian army of the time, he came back broke and with a few men. Unable to pay his men due to the requested gold from the army arriving late, he faced the inevitable dishonour of his men leaving him.

With no men and a few gold coins left, Sir Facade went to a dank tavern in small corner of Oligarch to drown his sorrows away from everybody. In his drunken state he accosted a commoner, a man of no importance and dirty beggar and laid the man in a heap from their arguments.

The next day Sir Facade awoke to find that Judge Gregor Relak had fined him 25 gold from the commotion of night before. Sir Facade thought he could take no more of the Westmoorian realm when a a dirty beggar would have greater rights than that of a noble, the living in the poverty of his measly income, the two weeks fines over his head and with no men to command. He could not bear to sit around for three weeks to do nought except to pay the injustically issued fines and so he decided to join Sirion, the land of the elves, enemy of Westmoor and swore revenge against all thing Westmoorian from that day forward.

Sun Tzu Slaymaster

Profile

The most aggressive and outspoken of the three brothers in the Slaymaster family. His hot temper and directness of his character got him into a lot of trouble during his earlier years. Although he has mellowed as he grew older, his temper tandem are legendary and would not care who he crosses once he is driven to anger. The strongest warrior of the three brothers, he commands totaly loyalty from those close to him and have shown great leadership ability in commanding his men due to his charismatic and forceful character.

Early Years

Graduated from Sirion Military Academy with distinction, Sir Sun Tzu went to explore the world to find opportunities to progress in rank of the military. He found himself in Orc la Pesh and joined the Ibladesh Army almost immediately to satisfying his taste for warfare. Very soon after he devoted his life to Lord Sartan, the God of War and lives his life accordingly to the glory of Lord Sartan.

Exile from Ibladesh

Ibladesh has a ruling elite that holds power through majority of the ruling class having a family member in the realm as well as promoting only those that are malleable rather than those with ability. This meant that the military, though powerful due to the wealth of the realm, was extremely inefficient and badly commanded by those with low ability but just good with their tongue.

The inefficiency of the army had so irate Sun Tzu that he had clashed with many members of the military hierarchy over the course of the months he was there until it cumulated with the Marshal giving Sun Tzu an unreasonable order in order to bend his will.

There was only going to be one outcome when anybody tries to bend the will of the hot headed Sun Tzu.

Evil Revealed within the Ibladesh Church

Although, been banned from Ibladesh due to having disagreements with the Ibladesh hierarchy, Sun Tzu had still consisted himself to follow the Path of Lord Sartan. But when he was banned from Ibladesh, he was also banned from the Church to follow Lord Sartan.

It was only later that he found out the Ibladesh Church was only a means to control the nobles of the realm and when new colonies were to be established. The Church was merely a front for the state and had only used the names of Gods that had existed in far past as a means of political control. Once a noble is out of the state, no matter the strength of his religion, he would be kicked out since the religion was based on a political ideal rather than a religious ideal.

Sun Tzu intends to find out more about Lord Sartan some time and travel to NeoSartania where it is rumoured where true religion of Lord Sartan is practiced.

Turtle Slaymaster

Profile

As the name suggested, Turtle Slaymaster acquired his nickname from his cowardice and meekness of his character. Some say he is not even of the Slaymaster blood and could not be a direct descendant of Slayer Slaymaster, the greatest warrior of all time. He was outcasted from the family and stripped of his nobility as he shamed the family after one dishonourable acts after another.
