Scallywag
The Scallywag family, known in their native Tertul for their playfully mischief, is a small family that have risen slowly through a combination of hard work and trade. Several have been armers of local repute supplying the Tertul Chi-Rho recruitment center.
Their family history is colored with many strange events and odd deaths that make good tales around a warm fire.
For example one of their forefathers Nare who was the first noble to carry then name Scallywag. Earned nobility from being a freeman. This occured because he wasonce working on a siege engine when it accidentally went off and catapulted him into the air. He flew across most of the village and landed on some vagabonds - who were in the process of robbing a local Lady. The vagabonds were killed instantly and the lady saved. Nare was completely unharmed by the incident and in gratitude he was granted the hand of the Ladies youngest daughter and sole child (who he was secretly in love with).
Another of their forefathers (or foremothers ?) Meretrix was sent away to East Continent after a particularly wild party. Lets just say the party is rumored to have involved several dozen barrels of stolen ale, a large number of 'girlfriends', members of the local bordello, members of the local monestery and a number of domesticated animals.

Modae never remarried, and with the lack of a mother to guide her Maeve (younger) grew up lacking many of the lady like skills. The twins were inseparable through their childhood and wandered far and wide causing much mischief and being 'lost' many times. As they grew to teenagers they were often found watching apprentices at the Chi-Rho recruitment center, or in the armers forge.
Modae died when the twins were fourteen in a freak accident when he accidentally got between two fighting billy goats.
The twin's Uncle and Aunt decided that they should seek their fortunes in the world in service of their realm and sent them out with a small force when they came of age.
As befits their family history the day Maeve and Manky set off to find their fortunes was the day of the Great Monster invasion.
