The black horse galloped soberly towards the young noble leading her soldiers out of Domus. Although the breeze was slight the Rede family banner still snapped softly behind her, the duel phoenix and eagle intwined an intricate dance.

“M’Lady Rede”, the messenger handed a worn leather satchel to Alyson. She nodded acceptance as he bowed and trotted away, his urgent message delivered safely into her hands.

After directing the men into break formation Alyson settled at her makeshift camp table to open the letter.

Four daughters! Her father had been furious at the Gods, but moreso at the youngest and most headstrong, Sybilla. She had fought day and night with her parents until one particularly heated argument ended with her father ousting her from the house under threat of disownment.
