Description
Once the seat of the deposed monarch Albert de Blanc and later home to the Melodian Parliament, Paisly is now a duchy of D'Hara held by Duke Mathias Ridder. The city is now under heavy reconstruction as ordered by the Duke Mathias. After his appointment to the Ducal seat, Duke Mathias ordered the complete demolition and rebuilding of many of the locations in Paisly. Many of the old locations...
...from Paisly's past have hence been destroyed. Including the large Gateway that was once stood on the cities western wall, also the old parliament building from during the reign of Melodia has fallen in this massive wave of reconstruction.
Paisly itself has now adopted a more uniformed structure. Rebuilding using mostly limestone and red sandstone the city itself gives off a peach color. Being a port city, and what some consider the gateway to the west Pasily has both a lot of land and sea traffic passing through it at all times. The city itself can be divided up into five Districts.
Notable Locales in Paisly:
The Temple District: Located in the southwest corner of Paisly this part of the city is often filled with priests from both the Way of the Dragons, and Estianism. Though no temples have yet to built within the region there are many shrines to both found within.
The Poor District:: Located in the Western portion of the city. This is were you will find many of the cities peasantry and lower forms of entertainment.
The Noble District: Located in the Northwestern part of the city. This is were you will find the estates of the cities knights and other forms of nobility.
The Merchant District: Located along the entire eastern border of the city this is where all forms trade and economic actions would take place. In the north you will find the new main gate which was constructed after the destruction of the old to the west. To the south of the district you can find the the old port. Once known as the Rangers Port it has lost much of its former glory, however the port still has a constant stream of traffic flowing through it. Because of this reconstruction has had little effect on this part of the city as business will not allow for it.
The Government District: Located in the direct center of the city is the Government District. Here is located the new Ducal Palace which was built upon the ruins of the old Melodian Parliament building. one would also find the cities bank and other official building within this district.
History
First taken by Madina in order to form the monarchy of Melodia. Albert De Blanc was the duke, and eventual monarch, who seceded the city to form the realm. He eventually stepped down to claim another city. The ill-fated colonists of Avenel traveled through or near this region. The city then saw a rebellion to reform the government into a republic. After the successful rebellion and the conclusion of the Port Raviel War, the city took a turn for the worse. Eventually, it revolted back into Madina's care. Within the day, it revolted into independence. D'Hara took it sometime afterward, but it revolted back into independence shortly afterward.
