Old Toe of Boswick

Boswick:

Boswick was an olden day noble, his history now mostly lost. However, the tale goes that he was one of the first men to settle on the continent, and in his lust for power, gold and glory, turn to a witch to gain an advantage over those that sought to overthrow him. The witch demanded someone of his blood as a sacrifice; Boswick's greed and ambition were so great, he sacrificed his daughter to the witch, who then granted him a renewed sense of strength, agility and the ability to command and control monsters and the undead Using this to his advantage, he controlled and directed hoards of undead and Monsters into enemy lands, tearing down everything in their path. As he grew older and the people around him grew weaker, he visited the witch more and more looking for a way to sustain his life. The witch requested another sacrifice, of blood, and he offered his sons.

Now more beast than man, he continued to wreak havoc over the land. No longer was he controlling the monsters or Undead, but walking among them as one. He had lost all sight of what his previous aims were, he was just destroying and tearing realms apart wherever he went. It is not known what happened to him in the end, as he became more and more like the beasts, he was eventually indistinguishable. Some believe he gained eternal life and still roams as one of them to this day. While other do not believe the story at all. There is little evidence left to tell us what really happened, and the story is now only really recited to noble children to teach them to value their family and to not sacrifice their morals.

The Old Toe

The toe, believed to be the toe of Boswick, is the last remaining 'evidence' that he existed at all. It's perfectly preserved and doesn't rot, no matter how long it's around for. Over the years, nobles have carried it into battle to remind them of the tale and to keep their morality in check. Others believe it to have magical properties granted by the witch, but this is unknown. It's currently attached to a chain, to be worn as a necklace, but many nobles believe this to be very crude so instead just keep it in a side pack, or attach to their horse.
