Old Rancagua's pledge

Ever since the fateful days of Charger's rebellion, which threatened to tear apart Old Rancagua, and then the days of El Cid's usurpation of the rulership in Kalmar Islands, the Nobles of Old Rancagua have been on edge. Slowly driven more cold, more brutal, as the fanatiscm which comes from too much exposure to the bloody conflicts which rage across the northern plains and forests of the East Continent. Oligarchian hate and dishonour has caused Old Rancagua to become harder, and more xenophobic, especially when it has come to the elimination of threats and the protection of her borders from refugees from enemy realms.

Hireshmont did more damage than even his perverted dreams could fathom when he organised the rebellion which almost destroyed Old Rancagua, and now, his nobles are paying for his ignobility. For now, we trust none, and will accept none who come from realms which are associated with Oligarch and her affliates (apart from Perdan). The cancer that is Avamar has also contributed to his hysteria, with their constant manifestation in many a realm which was once pure. It seems that Old Rancagua shall now become the knife, the cleansing blade which will excise the evil which has come to fester within the Kalmarian Islands. Prometheus shall be restored to his throne, and the last of the usurpers shall be washed away.

Yesterday, King Dekion in his first true diplomatic act as the ruler of Old Rancagua, declined at Chancellor Lalakis offer of a peace proposal. Whilst this was partly due to the oath that we swore to Prometheus, the true King of Kalmar and former well-loved Old Rancaguan when he fled the realm which was taken from him by El Cid's rebellion, it was also due to the fact that, with the Avamarian action to move their capital closer to the borders of Old Rancagua, it was clear that their offer for peace was not a whole hearted or sincere one.

Old Rancagua's ongoing pledge to end the Avamarian menance which has plagued the East Continent and uphold the oaths made to Prometheus concerning his Kingdom shall be fulfilled as a red dawn rises, the final battles which will see the first of a long peace in the northern regions of the Continent.

Wenliang for High Marshal

Over the past few months, there have been many changes within Old Rancagua, Charger's rebellion will be etched into our history has being one of our most unfortunate defining moments. With Dekion elected as the new King, the position of High Marshal was left open. Many applied for the role, however after much deliberation, the King appointed the impetuous new Count of Poitiers, Sir Wenliang to take command of Old Rancagua's armies during these momentous times. Let us hope that in the future this appointment will pay off for the new King as Sir Wenliang attempts to fill his rather large shoes...

Elections!

Yes indeed folks. It truly was a historical day in the lives of Old Rancaguans everywhere. There have not been elections within Old Rancagua almost as far back as anyone can remember. EVen in the days of Talius, Fuinur was a picked cantidate. The three cantidates were: Dekion, Fuinur, and your truly. Sadly Talius dropped out of the running when . . .

The was called into pressing family affairs. We here at the presses do not have the full details, but we hope nothing has gone wrong with one of his close relatives. We know of the island to the north of us he calls home that Talius sometimes travels to, let us hope nothing is wrong. But anyways, back to the elections. THe running was tight and there were numerous questions forwarded by members of the realm.

The elections took a bad turn in the early part of the elections, but Dekion and Fuinur settled their differences temporarily and ran a smooth campaign. It was then carried on in a much more civil manner. Issues such as: Realm security, treatment of nobles, domestic affairs, political stance, and the Kalmar Islands.

Yes yes, you are all dying to know..Who won? Here we are, wiht the official results:

  1. Dekion 645 votes 49.8%
  2. Fuinur 337 votes 26%
  3. Antan 107 votes 8.3%
  4. Talius 64 votes 4.9%
  5. ShadowWolf 32 votes 2.5%
  6. Syban 29 votes 2.2%
  7. Lexon 26 votes 2%
  8. Tonan 22 votes 1.7%
  9. Prometheus 14 votes 1.1%
  10. Sam 7 votes 0.5%
  11. Shina 6 votes 0.5%
  12. Johnny 5 votes 0.4%

You heard right folks and you heard it here. Our former High Marshall has been named the King! King Dekion has been named our King. The people have decided. There is some voting qualms over stuffed ballots in the border colonies, but nothing substantial whatsoever.

Interview with Rats

Rats- Ex Kalmarian

Interviewer: What are your feelings on the rebellion in Kalmar?

Rats: Short of death, there is no justice that can be done to those who betrayed the loyalists for El Cid. The Islands were a sign of hope from the Spirits, but has since become the place where all criminals and cowards flee to.

Interviewer: What action do you think Old Rancagua should take against El Cid and his government?

Rats: Old Rancagua has said that they will help the loyalists, and I believe them. This is something that they do not have to do, but choose to do. I believe it is in their best interests, to have an ally as a neighbor, especially one which they helped bear the fruit. I believe that Old Rancagua should consider El Cid as an enemy, for two reasons. The first, El Cid is a coward, and should be treated as a criminal for his actions. Second, El Cid, nor those loyal to him, can be trusted, as they have proven in the past. And Oligarch's TLs will join El Cid in hopes of having a safe haven, another reason not to trust them.

Interviewer: Will you ever go back to Kalmar?

Rats: Yes, to kill El Cid and remove those who have followed him. Kaos will be established upon the isles, and the Spirits will lead those with strength, courage, and wisdom. Kalmar will not be a harbor for criminals, for that I pledge my life.

Interviewer: Do you have a view on the debate about who should be crowned King Of Old Rancagua?

Rats: I do not believe Fuinur would lead Old Rancagua to another golden age, and have more faith in Dekion. Other than that, no.

Interview with Antan

Antan-Editor of the Old Rancaguan Press

Interviewer: Tell us about the changes being made to the Old Rancaguan Press, and why are these changes afoot?

Antan: "Well, we here at the Old Rancagan Press are tired of being considered second-rate. Many people hail the Oligarch Observer or the Perdan pride, with good reason though. They have settled themselves into their good position by being around for a long time and having some really superb editing. But change is in the winds... The Old Rancaguan Press is going to some out of its slumber hopefully and truly turn into a powerhouse on the news front.

Interviewer: How did you come to choose the new members of the staff of the ORP?

Antan: "The new staff was on a volunteer basis and that basis only. There was a call extended out to anyone who is interested in working to help the paper advance. There were three great TLs that stood up to the challenge: Palandro, Sam, and Wenliang. They have now settled into their respective tasks and are ready to make the ORP proud."

Interviewer: How do you plan to become the most read paper on the continent?

Antan: "Well, I am currently in contact with the editor and founder of the Itorunt Informer. We are planning one getting a Newspaper alliance together to prosper both of our papers. Details are sketchy right now, but there is more to come soon. For other ways. With the new addition to the staff, we have quite a good chance that one of our staffers are on at separate times, when the news happens. We will hopefully be able to use this to our advantage upon having blistering reporting speeds. If you are looking for fast news, the Old Rancagua Press id going to cater to your needs. Also, we at the staff are currently reworking the outdated format of the paper right now. We are planning on making it so articles that you -want- to read are easier to find, and articles you couldn't care less about don't have to be read."

Interviewer: How do you see the election as playing out? Do you see the possibility for a smooth transfer of power?

Antan: "Ooh, elections. That is a good topic right now. Our first true elections ever since the rebellion. Well, I am sure the election will be carried out properly and with the due respect to all the candidates. I surely hope there will be no mudslinging, I can't stand that sort of thing. But I am sure there will be a few days of rough transition as we try to get things back together. But then surely things will smooth out and we will be able to get back to work on affairs, both internal and external."

Interviewer: What inherent problems do you see with the election and who appears to be the strongest candidate for office?

Antan: "Hmm, problems? I am sure there will be the usual resentment for someone's candidate losing. But these feelings pass in time. Also, we might see a slight change in foreign policy, depending on who is elected. It should be nothing radical, but a change nonetheless.

As for strongest candidate? Hmm, I am not really sure. All the candidates have a long history in this realm. Talius was our King of long past and led us through many a dark day. Fuinur, of course, is the war hero and former King of our realm. And Dekion has quite the record as a general for winning battles. It will be interesting to see how things play out indeed. I could easily see it going to any of these candidates."

Old Rancagua Press Revamped

It has come that time in Old Rancagua's history is changing on a dramatic scale. So I went and thought, why not the Press as well? The Old Rancagua Press is making a rejunvenated assault upon the world of periodicals. No longer the laughingstock . . .

of the journalistic world, we shall come out with faster reporting than ever before. As you can tell, we have reworked the format of the Press. No longer will you the reader have to look through long articles concerning what you don't care about. You can skip right to the information. This will provide an easier read for you in the future.

Also, we have added new staff onto the Press. I would love to welcome Sam, Wenliang, and Palandro onto the staff of the paper. We will hopefully be able to present a good, varied description of the happenings upon this island. Look to us in the future for better improvements as we think of them.

Puzzle of the Issue

The tallies are in from last week. And now we have the new totals. It is good to see people coming out and voting!

  1. Sam AND Fuinur - 4 points
  2. Ragnell - 2 points
  3. Shina AND Kamekaze6 - 1 point

And now, the puzzle of the issue: While patrolling around the city of Oligarch, some troops of Old Rancagua and Oligarch met eachother. There were some taunting thrown back and forth, each unit claiming their commander to be the best swordfighter. The leaders that stepped forward for Old Rancagua were Talius, Madisson, and Lost. Two of the knights won their matches and one knight lost. Which two knights won their matches and which one lost?

  1. Talius won his match, if Madisson lost his match.
  2. If Madisson won his match, then Lost lost his match.
  3. Talius lost his match, if Lost won his match. (confusing no?)
