The Constitution of the Republic

WHEREAS the Duchies of Ozrat, Sasrhas, and Akanos, having joined together after the fall of Lasanar, and likewise the Duchy of Ossaet, having joined the former after the fall of Papania, pledge together their fealty and hereby enter into a formal and permanent union to constitute the Feudal Republic of Ohnar West.

NOW THEREFORE, for the good and honest consideration whereof, the Lords of Ohnar West commit themselves to govern and be governed according to the manner here laid down.

Governing the Republic: Executive Offices

Ohnar West shall have five chief offices of state.

The Prime Minister shall be elected by a vote of all nobles of the realm. The Prime Minister shall be the chief legislative and diplomatic officer of the Republic.

The Minister of Justice shall be elected by a vote of all nobles of the realm. The Minsiter of Justice shall be the chief judicial officer of the Republic.

The Strategic Commander shall be appointed by and is answerable to the Prime Minister. The Strategic Commander shall be the chief military officer of the Republic and shall be empowered to remove (but not appoint) Marshals with cause. During wartime, all armies of Ohnar West shall be answerable to the Strategic Commander.

The Minister of Finances shall be appointed by and is answerable to the Prime Minister. The Minister of Finances shall oversee the food supply of the realm according to the needs of its Dukes. The Minister of Finances shall also oversee the structure and enforcement of taxation policy as determined by the High Council.

The Ambassador Plenipotentiary shall be the appointed by and is answerable to the Prime Minister. The Ambassador Plenipotentiary shall oversee the production and drafting of the Republic's treaties with foreign powers and undertake whatsoever assistance or travels are required as determined by the Prime Minister. to further the Republc's cause abroad. Other ambassadors may be appointed at the discretion of the Prime Minister,  but they shall not hold the level of an executive office.

The Forum of Ohnar shall be established as the venue for all major discussions regarding current and legislative affairs. The Forum shall be open to any noble of Ohnar West in good standing who wishes to participate in the governing of the realm. The Forum is not itself a legislative body, but rather a window on to the High Council and the Assembly of Ohnar. Discussion of matters deemed sensitive or secret shall by the High Council shall be restricted to the High Council.

Recusal from Voting

No region lord or Duke shall vote on any measure pertaining immediatley to their own welfare or position.
