Eleryonism in Caerwyn
29 November 12 YD Karana Tian, Viscountess Dunnbrook
I will admit, Eleryonism has been present in Caerwyn since mid-last week. However, I did not want to write an article about something I did not understand. Thus, I chose to delay an official article on them for a bit until I got to know the envoy of the faith, Joaquim Anthaigos, Nur-Eleryon of Eleryonism, the Voice of the Star, and Servant of Caerwyn. Despite the long title--and he says that /is/ his formal title--I have found him to be an amicable man and am pleased to bring to you all the opening letter he sent to the nobility of Caerwyn:

Noble Society of Caerwyn,

Yes, I understand it might look a little out of place to have a priest from a different faith here. I am originally from the realm of Pian en Luries, where my family home is also located, in the beautiful region of Orz. Alas, circumstances took the course that forced me to seek refuge elsewhere. You see, there was a rebellion of sorts there, where the southern half of the realm was forced to secede. As it happened, I was at that time having my estate in south, administering to the needs of the local nobility, and was associated with them in political sense as well, even though I do not have such interests or ambitions. The hammer of Tyr fell hard on the City of Giask, and in the resulting turmoil, I took a boat towards Caerwyn.

I did come with the invitation of good Lord Neomus to both guide him towards a deeper understanding of the faith as well as to preach to his peasants. Alas, it appears, that Lord Neomus has vanished. Thus I do not know whether or not it shall be possible for me to continue preaching in Dunnbrook. This depends on the new lord, of course, as I would certainly not preach where the lord of a region does not permit it. I only ask that the temple in Dunnbrook would be respected, as it is quite dear to me and to the little following it has attracted in the region.

Eleryonism is a faith that is dedicated to the growth of its members. We believe everyone has a role to play in this world, a destiny if you will, that they were always meant to fulfill. Only a noble himself can be certain of his own path, as no other man or woman can tell another his true place in this world. We as the nobility are essentially free - free to choose who we serve, and thus be bound, but by our own choice. The same is true with the destiny we have. We may choose to follow it or we may choose not to do so. Regardless, I believe we can only find true fulfillment in life if we are honest to ourselves about who we truly are.

Within Eleryonism we believe this destiny whispers to us in a soft quiet voice, never with demands or orders, but with subtle hints. Most of the time we are only prepared to hear it when we are asleep and see dreams. Not all dreams point towards the true path, but some do. The main task of the priesthood of Eleryonism is to assist in interpreting the dreams, as well as giving practical advice about how to reach the goals one has discovered for himself. The temples and such serve this purpose. We believe the destiny of the peasants is always tied to that of their lord, thus we only ever preach good words about the lord and the realm of the peasants, and stay well away from political struggles.

We are and always will remain a minority faith, not seeking grand influence upon realms and regions, but for inner growth of all the nobility, so that all shall reach their full potential in life and together weave the web of the grand destiny of this world we live in. Thus I ask for understanding and acceptance from the dominant faith here. We do not wish to step in your way or in any way interfere with the path you have chosen. I do hope we can find a mutually beneficial and rewarding relationship here, as we no doubt have some common ground here.

On another note, a good number of nobility from the fallen realm of Giask shall be arriving at Caerwyn in these coming days. They are all respectable and resourceful gentlemen, and I am certain you shall find them a welcome addition to your fine society.

Referendum Watch
28 November 12YD - 4 December 12YD Karana of the East Island
Yeah, that's right, I've decided that there are enough referendums in Caerwyn to give polls an area of their own. Anyways, in this weeks "Referendum Watch" we have two different polls to report on!

First and already concluded, we have the election of Knyazes. Compared to his closest competitor, Marshal Amandil of the Legion of the Golden Griffin won by a landslide. Of course, none of his competitor's received any votes, though my records state at least 4 nobles entered the running. It should also be noted that there was no public election speech on his part. This only goes to show that serving another role is a good way to eventually land yourself a Lordship!

Official Tally:

  • Amandil of Umbar = 24 votes
  • Everyone else = 00 votes
  • Uncast = 19 votes

And on the forefront of all Caerwynians minds, the election of the next High Magistrate is upon us! Unfortunately for all our readers we won't have the results until next issue. Sorry!

Rumour Mill
04 December 12YD Karana Tian
Another new edition this week, is the "Rumour Mill". Unlike most of our other articles, which we will do our best to validate the validity of, the "Rumour Mill" is for all those interesting rumour we heard floating around.
  • This week word has it that Asylon has been supporting Thulsoma's defense with large sums of gold. Should Thulsoma fall however, best guess is that the refugees will make their way back to their financiers. Though there is some hope a few decide to stop in Caerwyn.
  • Also floating around, apparently the realm of Ordenstaat has stirred it's populace into a frenzied hatred for D'Hara. Or attempted to anyways.
  • Lastly, after remembering the glory days of their rule by D'Hara, Giask has once again revolted and joined D'Hara! Yes, Giask revolted from Giask. It makes perfect sense. And so ends the glory days of Giask. May she rest peacefully.
Legends Among Us
02 December 12YD Karana Tian, Viscountess in Caerwyn
It is not often that the world loses a Legend, but every so often, one does fall in battle. Today we commemorate the passing on one more, Sigrun Lurdigala, Storm Legate, Chieftain At Arms of Thulsoma has been killed by Jasper's Devoted, a unit lead by Sir Jasper Kahn of the Morek Empire. The bards sing that he died in glorious battle defending the walls of Storm's Keep till the very end of his life. Despite his valiant actions however, his defense of the city was unable to hold true, and the combined forces of the Libero and Morek Empires stormed the Citadel shortly after he fell.
Guild of the Occasional?
02 December 12YD Karana Tian, Editor-in-Chief
So, I've been thinking about this for a while, but it's very tempting to make a guild for the newspaper. I hate having all this old Poryatown Press equipment lying around and not being used. The current facilities don't really do the paper justice, and having a guild behind it would definitely help in promoting and backing it. And with myself in charge, rather than having a Patron, it would be less of a logistical headache than the Poryatown Press was early on. That and with the guild it'd be easier to coordinate an inter-realm publishing project like this paper. If you have any comments on this, you can either send them to me directly (I'm in seven guilds at the moment) or send them to the paper (OoC: Talk Page, sign them as if you were IC and they'll be taken as "Letters to the Editor", so to speak).
Competition of the Magistrate
03 December 12YD Malcolm Prestongreen, Knight of Itaufield
Greetings my Realm mates,

I have put my name forward for the Judge's seat that is currently being voted on. While I will not pretend not to have interest in this, I do understand that I am still fairly new to the Republic and have done little to deserve this honor.

Beside my interest in the position, I also think it unhealthy for any Realm or Republic not to have a choice when the voting is called for. Before my announcement the position of High Magistrate was uncontested.

I have nothing but respect for our current High Magistrate and he has served well since his election. One difference I would point out, it is my belief that a member of government should not hold a Lordship of a region. I have no evidence of any wrong doings on his or the behalf of anyone in this regard, but I am concerned that to much centralized power could lead to abuse of said power. Being a mere knight, I have no such vision of grandure or special interest to tempt me or lead me astray. As such I can represent the Republic in an unbiased manner, holding those accountable for their actions should our laws be broken.

If you believe a common knight may represent the Republic better than a landed Lord, I would ask you to vote for me.

Respectfully Submitted,
Malcolm Prestongreen (Knight of Itaufield)
