OOC Crest Background

The Noorderlicht crest originates from the midieval county of Flanders, where my ooc ancestors originate from. The county was located between England, France, Holland & Germany, (north-eastern part of today's Belgium,) and had a history of indipendance struggle, but has been dominated most part of their history by their powerfull neigbours. Most renembered victory of the Flemish was in 1302, where an army of peasants defeated the royal army of France. (First time in history a army of heavy armored, welltrained Knights where defeated in a battle by peasants.)

History

The noorderlicht family oldest records date from their time living as smiths in the mountainarea of Elost on the continent of Atamare. The Noorderlicht family received his status of beeing "Noble" at 31 08 2006, in the duchy of Cantervern (Minas Ithil), where up to today the Family manor is located.

Family

After the Heroic Death of Snider, at the Seige of Elost, Pieter
became the new Family Leader. He moved away from Darka to take
care of the family buziness, back in Cantervern, Minas Ithil.

Pieter

Twin brother of Snider

Current Titles: Knight of Cantervern, Member of the Expeditionary Forces
Current realm: Minas Ithil (Atamara)
Former realms: Darka (Atamara)

While his brother Snider acts by the sword, Pieter acts by the brain. He will if possible
try to accomplisch a truce when in conflict, and when combat is unevadable, he will rather
stand on a hill pourring arrows towards the enemy then he will be seen smashing a club.
He is also known for his disrespect towards commonners, and his extravagant lifestyle.
While he became an Ithilian in any sence, he still believes in the Darkan Gods of the
Holy Vulcano.

When Father Noorderlicht died, and he and his brother Snider discussed the legacy,
they both claimed the position of Family Head. After weeks of discussion they agreed
to duel to first blood to find out who will become the next family head. Snider, in
combat much more experienced then Pieter, defeated Pieter, after wich Pieter left the
homelands of Minas Ithil to seek fortune in the mercenary realm of Darka.

After the death of Snider, he returned to take up his duties as the new Family Leader.

Homus Cornelius

Brother of Jana, Wife of Alexiana

Current Realm: Taselak (South East Island)
Current Titles: High Marshall of Taselak, Member of the HSG.
Former Titles: Marquis of Belus, Marshall of the HSG

Homus believes in strict discipline on the battlefield, undoncitional
loyalty to realm and crown, pure chaos when celebrating victory,
and a huge ammount of individuality. Usually he always tries to do
good, even if there is no pleasing for some.

Homus, while certainly skilled on combat on the battlefield,
is more of the eternal student. He loves to gather information
or extend his skills.

Homus was born a peasant, and served for quit some time
as a soldier in the unit of Snider Noorderlicht, an
Ithilian noble. (Mainly during the Kybecell wars)

After he spend a few months in the Noorderlicht mansion
to recover from his manny wounds, he met, and fell in love
with Alexiana Noorderlicht, Snider's beatifull sister, and
soon they had a wish to get united by mariage.

Snider heavyly disagreed with the mariage, but they married
in secret anyway. Homus and Alexiana fled to the SEI, where
Homus hoped to find a job as a troop leader, putting his past
experiences to good use. He rose in local politics, and after
some time, his power and influence even exceeded that of Snider.

These days fights in the South-East Island for the honor of Tasalak,
usually taking care of regions.

Jana

Sister of Homus. Unmarried, but has a few unofficial children
running around.

Former Realm: Irombrozia (Beluerta), Einweil (Beluerta), Republic of Fwuvoghor (Beluerta)

Jana is careless and unresponsible. With little hope for a better
life, she is willing to sacrifice anything for it. Little more is
known on her, due her nature of beeing a peasant. Rumours circulate
however an adventurer fitting her discription stole a ring from the
Summoner himself.

Snider (Dead)

He is the twin brother of Pieter, and first Head of the Family since Nobility.

Knight of Cantervern, Family Leader of Noorderlicht Family

It is in his personality to do everything fo preserve the safty of his family.
He is more the agressive type, and prefers to simply bash someones skull before
asking questions. He usually can be found on the nearest battlefield int the frontlines.
Despite beeing such a brute, he finds honor rather important.

Snider died in combat when heroicly leading the Ithilian forces in the seige of
Elost.

Alexiana (Retired)

Sister of Snider & Pieter
and married to Homus Cornelius.

These days she retired and lives spending her husbands money in the family manor.
