The Great Oath of Nobility

Before one can be considered a full member of follow of Nobilitatem Deus, one must publicly take the Great Oath of Nobility at the First Temple of Azros. Listed below is the full text of the oath.

I swear to be faithful to The Creator, to Positor Claude as the voice of The Creator, and to the teachings of Nobilitatem Deus as they are written and preserved in the First Temple of Azros at all times and in all places and in all duties of my life. I swear that I shall never waver in my pursuit of honor and glory for The Creator even when I falter in my duties. I swear that I shall follow the principles of Nobility as they are outlined below.

The Maker is due all glory for the creation of the world and the cosmos.

Nobility are due glory for their humility to The Maker, their fulfillment of their oaths of fealty, and their care-taking of peasants

Peasants are due glory for fulfilling the simple tasks of their life, as they were created to be a test for those who claim to be nobles.

Nobility are to be the stewards of the earth, gaining glory and renown for their actions, but only insofar as they fulfill the duties and principles they are sworn to.

Nobles gain glory through faithful service to those above them and below them in the social hierarchy, a hierarchy ordained by The Maker to order the earth and test nobles in their duties

Honor is found in humility through obedience to those you have sworn to. Obedience is not always an easy path, but that is why great honor is found in it. Choosing a hedonistic life is always an option, though no honor for nobles is found in simply following the desires of the flesh.

I swear that I shall perform the duties of my office in life without favouritism or hatred and without outside influence. I swear that I shall not spread any inaccurate, distorted or false report on any matter with which Nobilitatem Deus has official or unofficial dealings, and that without any fraud I will communicate information accurately. I will reveal to no-one the deliberations of Nobilitatem Deus as they affect sensitive issues of policy or politics. If I know or learn of anything which I believe may bring harm or disgrace to Nobilitatem Deus, I will inform one of the Elders of the religion. I swear that I shall not stir up discord or dissension between members of Nobilitatem Deus, either openly or secretly; if I become aware of any such discords or dissensions I shall do your best to quell them, and may – for the purpose of such suppression – reveal my knowledge of them to others who may be able to assist in the suppression.

I swear that I shall live for the purpose of proving my honor and shall dedicate every day I have to this cause. I swear that I shall uphold my oaths to those above and below me, and that I shall question my obedience only if I am being asked to break the principles of nobility stated above or the other terms of this oath contained herein.
