The Menocchio family currently resides in Azzal. Traditionally a house of limited wealth and renown, more recent times have seen the house achieve widespread fame. Currently, the three brothers, Eadric, Areopoagitica, and Giovanni are spread throughout the worlds, lending their swords to realms dedicated to honor, justice, and virtue.
The Menocchio Family Banner
House Menocchio took for its banner the above crest. The black represents their steadfast in battle while the white symbolizes a desire for sincerity and peace. The two lions standing tall represent the dauntless courage that the family has always displayed in battle since the dawn of time. Finally, the fiery sword in the center of the crest carries a double meaning. It symbolizes the Menocchio’s commitment to justice and that which is right in the world. But the sword is also a reference to the family blade, named Lightbringer. Legend has it that long ago, this sword would be set ablaze before the bearer rode off into battle to frighten the enemy. But time and countless wars have seen the family forget the knowledge and the magic behind the sword and thus, Lightbringer which is wielded today by Eadric, eldest of the Menocchio family, is nothing more than an ordinary sword. It is the responsibility of every member of House Menocchio to seek out the pyromancers scattered throughout the world and try to restore the flame to Lightbringer once more. Obviously, the family words displayed on the top of the crest are a reference to the sword and the family commitment to bring light to that which is dark.
The Ancient History of the Family
The Menocchio Family originally hailed from the heart of Atamara, in the mountains of Nazia. Here they lived for hundreds and maybe even thousands of years, fighting for various lords of various status. However, in more recent times, the family homestead was moved to much nicer quarters inside the walls of Azzal. The origins of House Menocchio are unknown, though it is believed that the original patriarch was a blacksmith whose skill in his craft was second to none. It is said that he was granted a title of nobility and a small tract of land in Nazia when his armor saved the life of a local lord fighting in a most savage battle. Regardless of its origins, the Menocchio family has withstood the test of time and is feared and admired throughout the world.
Present Day
- Currently, the three brothers are spread across the lands and continents. Eadric currently serves the realm of Plergoth and is a protector of the human race from the undead hordes that swarm Beluaterra from time to time.
- Areopoagitica leads a pious life in Ibladesh, serving the will of the gods and defending the East Continent from Perdan and their hegemonic goals
- Giovanni, tired of trying to find a home abroad, decided to come home to Azzal and become a mercenary in the army of Darka.
