Sorsha had not slept, and watched the sunrise from where she sat. It was a new day already, and she had been doing a lot of thinking. One person who had occupied most of her thoughts was Mathias. Therefore, when she figured enough time had passed and she would most likely find him awake rather than asleep, she made her way to his room and knocked on the door. “Mathias?” she called his name softly.

Laying down in his bed Mathias had been starring at his ceiling for quite some time now. Having only been able to get a small amount of sleep due to the constant pains all over his body Mathias just laid there hoping the pain would go away. Then through the door Mathias heard, "Mathias?" he was quick to pick up on this being Sorsha's voice and immediately responded, "Yes My Love, please come in."

Upon entering, Sorsha noticed him in bed, and felt a pang of guilt at his state. He was there because of her, because of something she had done when losing control. She remembered that much of it. She walked over to the bed, and sat on it, facing him. She was about to ask him how he was, but she could clearly see he was in a lot of pain. Instead, she looked around the room for a minute and then lowered her eyes to her hands.

“I have been doing a lot of thinking… since last night, and I need you to clarify some things for me. For one… I noticed you call me “my love” a lot of the times and my memory is somewhat filled with holes. You conduct yourself around me, as if I am your property and I don’t understand. Were we ever… together? I mean… together,” she emphasized meaningfully. She clearly remembered kissing him, asking him to help her feel, acting in such a way she did not think a sane man would have turned her advances down. When he frowned, she tried to explain differently. “We have not been… intimate with one another…” she looked up, “have we?”

Letting out a deep sigh, "No My Love, we have not been intimate...and your words now hurt far more than any physical pain ever could. Is that truly what you thought I viewed you as? Property? Some piece of meat for me to buy? If that is how I come off then I am sorry..." Mathias was now looking down depressed at the current chain of events, "Is this why I have been unable to win her over in the past, because she thought I saw her as property?" he thought to himself.

"No My Love, though I do admit that once long ago I would view women as property for man’s enjoyment. Well after that night at Bowies estate in Qubel I changed...you asked me to and I did." Then reaching out and softly grasping her hands he makes a small smile and awaits her response.

“Well I did not mean it in the sense you view it as, I simply meant you are possessive of me, which leads me to believe you have claim to my heart as well, not only my person as I feel it concerning you. Which would have made more sense…” she tried to clarify. In a sense a part of her almost felt let down. She and he were not an item, which would have made things somewhat easier to understand, at least when it came to her connection to him. Her eyes actually reflected the sadness she felt at that and out of nowhere her eyes filled with tears.

“I’m sorry,” she apologized and reached up to wipe some of the tears, “I’ve been doing that,” she explained with a slight tremor in her voice. “And I don’t know why… was I always this weepy?” she asked him suddenly and laughed out of embarrassment, hoping he would not see how bothered she was. “Then it is no wonder my life has become this… explosion of I don’t know what. Who lives like this?” She asked him rhetorically.

“I remember…” she hesitated and her face changed to disgust. “Enjoying the pain I gave you, as if somehow that would make it all better. And then, when I think about it like now, I become this empty shell with no remorse and I think how you deserved every moment of torment I gave you,” she averted her gaze. “How could you still be here, vying for my attention? When I see that person, I am confused…” she let trail off and then her eyes looked at him. “Because that creature is not a match for you,” she explained, “I see her with someone else entirely…” she let trail off but didn’t clarify who she was speaking of.

Mathias leaned up and gave Sorsha a small peck on the forehead after seeing her despair. "Sorsha...you once told me I am your universe, well you are my mine. I know that creature you speak of is not my match, but it does matter. I have loved every part of you, whether it is the warm and caring one or the hurtful one." Then taking his hand to her cheek he raised her head so that they would look each other in the eyes and said, "To me there is no Mathias...it has always been Sorsha and Mathias. Look within yourself, you will realize the truth of my words. If I am not with you, then I am nothing at all, you complete me."

She knew, in her heart she knew his words to be true. It seemed that with every heartfelt word he had just spoken, he made her relive the moments in which those very words had once been spoken between them. And she was reminded why she indeed loved the man before her.

Fresh tears filled her eyes and she gave a small sniff, wiping more. She reached in to touch his face, the bruises on his cheek and she lightly touched the bandage over his eye. She tried to say something, “I’m so…” but instead a small sob escaped her lips and she wrapped her arms around his neck. She held on to him so tightly, her frame trembling. “I am so lost…” she said softly.

Mathias noticed Sorsha crying as she held on tightly to him. Then slipping his arms out from under her, he hugged her and said, "My Love, we have been through the abyss and back. I did not leave you in the folly when you fell and I shall not leave you now." Then pushing her away he looked her in the eyes again and said, "Sorsha, I love you and always have. If you indeed feel lost then I shall help you...I shall find you. I’ll be with you; I will be your light in the dark; I’ll be your protection in the fiery furnace. I shall never leave your side." Mathias then gave her another kiss this time on the cheek and then pulled her into him again hugging her tightly.

Sorsha began to cry harder and buried her face in his neck. “Mathias… I’ve sunk so low… but this time I won’t give up,” she murmured with an emotionally filled voice and kissed him. Passionately but also with desperate need. She felt an incredible sensation doing so, like she was kissing him for the very first time and she had difficulty pulling away. When she did, she was but a few inches from his face. “All I ask is for some time now.”

She rose from the bed and left the room quietly. When she closed the door behind her, she sunk to the ground, crying softly. Everything had become difficult again, hard, and painful, and at the same time so incredible. She had to be strong in this, she had to truly find her way this time. She cried but at the same time, she tried to harden herself. When she did so, she became cold again. Having become hardened once more, she rose from the floor and left.
