The next morning, Sorsha woke but she didn’t get out of bed. She had no energy still, all she could do was lie there and think of everything with a heavy heart. Mathias was still there with her, as he had promised. For some time she watched him sleeping, finding comfort in his presence, she wanted to hold him again but doing so would wake him and he looked peaceful.

Some time later she quietly slipped out of bed and made it outside of her chambers. As she did, a stressed Carlene was running down the hall and passed her without so much as a word but with an exasperated expression on her face. Sorsha frowned and followed after her. “Carlene, what’s wrong?” she asked and the young servant turned as if only then noticing her.

“Its Lorlan,” she said in a broken voice. “One of the guard’s found him yesterday.” She didn’t explain further and continued down the hall to which Sorsha followed again. When she opened the door, Sorsha stood, looking at him her face one of shock. Lorlan lay in a bed, his face terribly bruised, traces of blood on the sheet beside him. A healer hovering over him, fretting over his condition. His eyes were closed now, but his breathing was uneven.

“What happened?” Sorsha managed to utter and frowned.

“He was attacked,” Carlene said quickly as if it was obvious.

Sorsha was still frowning, “but who would do such a thing? He is an old and frail man, he is defenceless.”

Carlene could only stare as if she was daft, “My lady… one of the guard’s mentioned Marquis Rathan leaving only moments before finding Lorlan in this state.”

At her words, Sorsha closed her eyes refusing to look or listen to anymore. Her heart started beating faster and she tried to swallow but she couldn’t. A part of her was furiously angry, the other defeated. She didn’t stay, and turned around, her legs taking her back out of remote instinct. She returned to her bedchamber where Mathias was still sleeping.

She sat in the chair near the window and then looked to the chest at the foot of her bed. It was a few minutes before she kneeled before it and opened it slowly. When she did, she rummaged through it and pulled out a vial of sleep remedy and then she took another.

Rising from the ground, she sat at the end of the bed with extreme sadness, now looking at the two vials in her hands.

Closing the chest once more, she walked around the bed and lay down beside Mathias again. He subconsciously reached in to hold her and she let him. Then she pulled the stopper from the vial, closed her eyes and drank it quickly. The other, she left on the table beside her. When she woke, she would take that one as well, all she wanted now was to sleep. Close her eyes and forget what she had done. It was quick and she was asleep once more.

Sorsha woke slowly, the grogginess weighing her down. She nuzzled in the pillow and gradually opened her eyes a small bit at a time, her eyes adjusting to the light and then she noticed Mathias watching her. There was a long stretch of silence where neither of them said a word. She gazed into his eyes and then she smiled. “You’re still here,” she stated softly. Maybe a part of her had expected him to leave, go on with his day, but no he had stayed with her the entire time while she slept.

"Mo Searc," Mathias replied looking at Sorsha. "I did promise you I wouldn't leave you, and I do intend to keep that promise." he said leaning in to give her a kiss on the forehead.

Then standing up Mathias noticed a vial of some strange liquid on her bed side table. Picking it up he noticed it to be the same strange liquid that he found next to Sorsha after her breakdown. Picking it up he took the liquid and said, "What is this?"

Sorsha stayed in bed, and watched him walk around the bed until he picked up the vial. She could see the look of confusion painted across his face mixed with concern. She sat up in bed, leaned against the pillows and held her hand out for him to hand it back to her. “It is a sleep remedy…” she explained and he waited for more. “It helps me sleep without the nightmares… and…makes me sleep when I cannot find it. ”

Looking upon the vial in his hands he pondered for a few seconds on what to do with it. After some deliberation with himself he decided to smash it against the ground. Watching as the vial smashed against the ground and as the liquid spread across the floor he noticed Sorsha expression change to one of concern for the loss of the substance. "Mo Searc, you don't need this poison. You yourself have stated that just by being near me you don't have the nightmares. This concoction of dark magics and poisons will only do harm to your body...I would ask that you don't rely on this evil for your sleep any longer."

Everything seemed to slow as Mathias smashed the vial and her eyes widened as the liquid spread, Rathan had given it to her. She gripped the sheet to keep from rushing to the ground after it. Already she was thinking of the ones she had put away, safe.

“Yes Mathias you do keep the nightmares at bay,” she told him softly and looked away from the ground to him. “I had… I wanted…” she then realized how much she had come to rely on the sleep remedy. “I needed to shut it all out,” she admitted and closed her eyes.

“You’re right,” she told him softly, but a part of her was affronted, angry that he would make this decision for her as if she were but a child, only right now she had no fight left in her.

Sitting down next to her, Mathias attempted to console her on the loss. "Mo Searc, if you have truly become dependent on this poison then I shall do all in my power to free you from that dependence." Then giving her a kiss on the forehead he stood back up. "My love, I do believe we have much to discuss though. As to the wedding that is. I would request that you accompany me to the city so that I might have my servants begin the planning. What do you say will you join me?"

Sorsha did not feel the kiss on her forehead, instead she thought of what he had said. His words hurt. It wasn’t poison, it had helped her, it had saved her when she desperately needed it. Mathias wouldn’t always be there, they would eventually separate if only out of necessity, she knew this, she was prepared for it and when he wasn’t there, she would need it.

His words then brought her back, the wedding. She tried to forget the potion and focused instead on him. “Yes, I will accompany you,” she rose out of bed, and walked around the small puddle, forcing herself not to glance at it anymore than was necessary. She had slept fully clothed, in her leathers. She looked down at them a look of disgust obvious on her face. Without another word she left the room.

Somewhat confused as to why Sorsha had left so quickly Mathias sat and thought on what had just transpired. He didn't think her angry at his words but perhaps upset that he was trying to control her. He did think the removal of that vile poison to be best, but perhaps he should just let things run their course and allow her to figure out that it is not good for her on her own. Taking a cloth out of his back pocket Mathias began to mop up the contents that had fallen to the floor, and prepared to apologize for his out burst upon her return.

It was some time later when Sorsha finally returned. She was dressed into a familiar dress. The color blood red, the material clinging to her torso tightly allowing a view of her cleavage. A small gold belt hugged her waist and then the skirt fell loosely to the ground, but on each side were long slits that reached her upper thighs. She actually appreciated the fine cut, seeing the practicality in it. Should she ever find the need, she could fight in it.

When she walked into the room, she closed the door behind her, “I am ready,” she told him and Mathias stood up upon hearing her voice. He blinked once, twice and then he seemed to stop moving at all and his mouth opened slowly.

She paused and frowned. “Is there something wrong?” She looked down to the dress and then around her. “Is there something I’m not seeing?” she asked again. Not truly understanding his shock.

Mathias stood there for a second his jaw practically touching the floor. It would take a second for Sorsha's words to sink in. "Oh...no there is absolutely nothing wrong. I...I have just never seen something so beautiful in my life." Unable to find the words to continue on Mathias just continued to stand there in utter shock of the beauty in front of him. Then in a vain attempt to change the subject Mathias uttered, "I...I wanted to apologize for my previous actions regarding the vial." he said with a slight stutter still finding it hard to find the words needed to verbalize his thoughts.

Sorsha smiled at his compliment then, understanding what had befallen him. At the reminder of the vial, it slipped and she did not express emotion. “Let’s forget about it,” she said all too quickly and then approached him. She grinned and her index finger lifted his chin to close his mouth and then she kissed it. “I believe you wanted to go to the city?” she reminded him and then taking his hands, she placed them on her hips. “Or did you change your mind?”

At her words asking whether or not Mathias still desired to go to the city he didn't know how to reply. "Mo Searc...I..." he said still stuttering just completely awestruck at the woman in front of him. "If you wish it I would stay here with you for eternity..." Then in the far corner of his mind Mathias remembered that he had acted this way around Sorsha a few times before. She always seemed to be more aggressive, and for some reason whenever she was he would do whatever she wished of him. He was but putty in her skilled hands, and though he realized this he didn't care. He would do almost anything asked of him.

A small voice in the back of her mind kept telling her this was all wrong, but she couldn’t help herself. She gave a light laugh, and grinned lopsidedly. “Let’s start with today,” she purred and kissed him again. The entire morning gone from her mind, as was the day before. It was easier this way, easier to breathe now. She touched his chest and her finger trailed down lightly until she reached his belt and then she looked back up at him. “Let’s start with your clothes. Or would you prefer concentrating on mine?” Mathias then swallowed and she gave a sensual laugh. “I did mean the wedding attire of course.”

Mathias lent in and gave her a kiss on her neck, "I don't know I think I would prefer to concentrate on your clothes," he said then running his hand up the back of her spine and then into her hair. "For instance these garbs though amazing and quite the spectacle simply will not do. Perhaps we should get rid of them for now?" Mathias then leaned in further to now kiss Sorsha passionately on her lips, "What do you say?"

Sorsha leaned her head back as he kissed her neck and closed her eyes and then welcomed his kiss with one of her own. “What would you have me wear instead?” she questioned coyly. She then ran her tongue along his bottom lip and bit it lightly. He rewarded her with another kiss and his hands trailed down her back. She didn’t think he had his mind about him any longer, she could tell by the way he simply reacted instead. “If we were to leave now…” she whispered but didn’t finish her words, she had actually forgotten what she was about to say and moaned lightly instead.

Mathias now having little thought left in his brain took a few seconds to think of a response, "If we were to leave now...well then I wouldn't be able to examine the fabric and quality of this dress when it is not on you." he said now fingering the buttons on the back of her dress.

Sorsha could feel as Mathias prepared to unbutton her dress. She didn’t object, instead she continued the trailing of her hands over his back and shoulders, feeling his muscles beneath her fingers.

Kissing the side of his neck, she reached his earlobe and put her lips around it, sucking lightly. “Well then at this rate…” she breathed hotly into his ear, “I’ll never be able to show off my dress.”

Mathias then took his hands and put them through the slits on the side of her dress grabbing her thighs and lifting her. Carrying her over to the door he kicked it shut and then fumbling with the lock in one hand he locked the door. Now turning around Mathias proceeded to continue to kiss Sorsha on her lips and neck down to her cleavage. Slowly unbuttoning her dress with one hand and dragging a finger down her back from his other hand. He approached the bed. Then gently setting her on it, "Mo Searc, you have no idea how long I have wanted this..." Then kissing her neck and slowly moving up to her ear he then began to play with the straps on her dress. "I do believe no other man should see you in this dress..."

Carlene was returning from Lorlan's side when she heard the slamming of a door and jumped, startled. She looked around, wondering where it had come from and walked down the hall. When she approached her Lady's room, she looked around to make sure she was alone and pressed her ear to the door.

At first she couldn't hear anything but then the distinct sound of a light laugh emanated through the door, followed by a light moan. Her cheeks reddened and again she looked down to the hall to see if anyone else had heard the commotion.

The curiousness was so that Carlene had to literally force herself to walk away. When she returned downstairs, she couldn't help but think of what was taking place in the Lady’s chambers. Duke Mathias was very handsome, she had admired him whenever she could but she had been invisible to his eyes, she was invisible to all eyes. She could only dream of ever being taken by a man such as himself.

The thought made her cheeks redden again and she shook her head, clearing it. Well the only person who had ever seen her at all had been Duke Hexic, he had even showed her some interest. She wasn't a noble, but a lowly servant. One such as herself could only be allowed to dream...

Lycan had been travelling for two days when he rode into Lady Sorsha's estate.

He directed himself to the main house and knocked. A beautiful little lady opened the door to his surprise. "Hello there. I was expecting Lorlan but you will do just fine." he smiled at her.

"I'm Lycan Moreira, here to see Lady Sorsha. And what is your name?" he gave her another smile.

"Carlene, Sir. Please come in

----

." she returned the smile and let him through.

"That's a beautiful name. How fitting..." he let the words trail off as he entered.

"Please wait here. I will see if Lady Sorsha is available." she turned away and Lycan waited.

Mathias planted hot kisses over her shoulders and neck making Sorsha’s eyes roll back, bringing forth a sigh of delight. His hands trailed expertly over her feverish skin, his fingertips slowly tracing each line of her body and she moaned lightly, the shivers he made her feel causing her to forget everything around her.

He had just managed to unbutton her dress, but he had not removed it. His shirt had been thrown to the ground, but they were moving slowly, taking careful attention in exploring one another. Her braid was now undone, her long hair fanned around her and his fingers buried in her hair once more when suddenly there came a soft rapping at the door.

She tried to ignore the knocking, but it came again, this time harder but still with a bit of hesitation. Closing her eyes, Sorsha sighed and then groaned. “My lady,” a muffled voice came through the door. “I am terribly sorry for disturbing you.”

Mathias' concentration having been broken by the knock at the door could only sit there and stare angrily at it. Quickly cutting back to Sorsha and then back to the door, and then once again back to Sorsha, "Mo Searc, are you seriously going to answer that?"

Sorsha looked to the door and then back to Mathias above her. “I don’t want to, it is most likely nothing,” she whispered and then kissed him again. Mathias returned her kiss and the knock came again, this time with, “my Lady, Sir Lycan has only arrived, what should I tell him?”

This made her frown and she stopped again. “Remind me to give them the week off next time,” Sorsha groaned.

His expression still one of disappointment and anger towards the person behind the door Mathias then decided to try and convince Sorsha to stay there with him.

Sorsha having moved in front of him now and seemingly preparing to stand up to answer the door. Mathias moved behind her leaning down began to kiss the back of her body starting at her lower back and making his way up to her ear. "So make him wait mo searc."

Having unbuttoned her top earlier, he watched as Sorsha had attempted to button it back up. "Here let me help you with that." he said. To which Sorsha gleefully agreed. However instead of putting the dress back up he began to play with it and lower it more than it had been but moments before. "I mean I am sure he would understand..." Mathias said now resting his body on her back and his chin on her shoulder. Then turning her head to his he kissed her and leaned back onto the bed still holding her.

His mouth on the back of her neck made her shiver and she sat back on the bed with him, now kissing him. She turned in his arms, this time lying above him. When she pulled back from a lingering kiss, she pouted. “Mathias…” she whispered his name with her own disappointment. “I can not make him wait an entire night, and ten minutes more will not be nearly enough,” she grinned and moved away from the bed.

“Besides,” she raised her long hair off the back of her neck to allow some cool air and fanned her skin. “Maybe this is a sign, perhaps we should wait until our wedding night.”

She didn’t wait for his answer and pulled her dress higher, and answered the door. When she did, she didn’t allow much room for Carlene to see, and then smiled as if nothing was out of place. “Please make him comfortable, I will be there shortly.” To which Carlene curtsied, “as you wish,” and turned away.

Sorsha then closed the door again and faced Mathias. “Will you help me?” she asked indicating the buttons on the back of her dress. He was still disappointed and she approached him, and kissed him. “Mathias, I want this just as much you. I would like nothing more than to shut the world away, but we cannot ignore our obligations, especially to a friend like Lycan. Not only would I appear rude but inconsiderate. Just remember we will now have the rest of our lives together.” Truly she didn’t say it, but she wanted to stay in his arms the rest of the night, the next day and the day after. Never in her life had someone made her feel this way. This brought a secret smile to her face, the desire in her eyes unmistakable.

She lifted her hair again and waited for him to button the dress. “Would you like to come with me?”

Lycan watched as Carlene returned. She looked somewhat embarrassed and he wondered why. "Please make yourself at home, Sir Lycan. Lady Sorsha will join you in a few minutes."

Lycan nodded and smiled without averting his gaze. "In the meantime can I offer you anything?" she lowered her eyes and looked a bit uncomfortable at being observed.

He gave her a mischievous grin and smiled as he watched her blush. "Yes, you can. Some ale will be fine. Thank you. It's been a long trip..."

Carlene nodded and bowed and then turned around leaving for the kitchen. Lycan stood there amused and looked around admiring some paintings on the wall of the waiting area. He saw his reflection on a mirror and noticed how dirty and tired he looked. Great! man you look like crap... he thought to himself as he tried to dust some of the dirt of his clothes.

Mathias stood somewhat disappointed at the whole situation, but thinking that maybe she was right in having them wait. Event though he would never agree with her on this, if that is what she desired he would give it to her.

Walking over to her he began this time to actually button up her dress though all the while taking his time with it. Lingering on each button he slowly made his way up the back of her dress. Feeling her silky skin the entire way.

Once he had finally finished he twirled Sorsha around and brought her close to him, "Mo Searc, though it saddens me that you would show yourself to other men dressed so liberally it does me good to know that only I can see what's beneath," then bringing his face to her neck he began to smell the sweet smell emanating from her hair. Wanting to lose himself in it he waited for a few seconds bathing in the sweet sent, "and to smell your exotic fragrances this close," Mathias then began to kiss down her neck starting from right above her shoulder working his way around to her cleavage. "and to taste and touch your body as I work my way over it." Then grabbing her by the buttock with both hands he pulled Sorsha as close to him as he could, “and finally to hear your pleasure as no other man shall ever do."

As he buttoned her dress, his fingers lingered over her back and she bit her lip with each careful fiery touch. She grinned at his words and then when he turned her, she was powerless to his attention. She gave a small sigh, as if answering his last statement and then brought him back up to look her in the eyes. “And no other man will,” she promised with a kiss. Her recent affairs of the heart was still on her mind, but she would not let it happen again.

She moved away, and then picked up his shirt off the floor. “You will need this,” she almost laughed and he smirked. He slipped it on and she watched as he did. When he was done, she passed her hand through her long hair, making it look presentable. She took his hand in hers and they returned downstairs.

Sorsha noticed Carlene returning from the guest room, and seeing the couple, her cheeks reddened again. When the couple entered the room, Lycan was only setting his ale down. “Sir Lycan,” Sorsha greeted. “Please forgive me for making you wait. The Duke and I were having a very heated discussion,” she told him, her face calm, not betraying the lie. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed Mathias shift and she couldn't help the grin that appeared on her lips.

“I hope you are well?”
