Deianarah was done her preparations and watched her men for some time. It wouldn’t be long before they left now. While she waited she decided to walk around. There were several camps in the surrounding area, but she still felt like a stranger, therefore she didn't mingle much.

Ahead of her, she noticed a familiar person, he was hard to miss seeing as how tall he was. This brought a smile to her face. Well not a complete stranger. She continued to walk until she was near enough. “Good Day, Sir Thain,” she greeted from behind him, he had not seen her yet.

Thain turned to face her, and his blind eye lingered over her for a moment. He had been enjoying the evening, looking up at the stars, and was more than ready to kill some Soliferans.

"Good evening Lady Deianarah, I trust everything is well?"

He gave her a slight bow and kissed her hand.

She watched as he kissed her hand, a part of her pleased, and her brown eyes looked up. “Yes everything is well, I was just taking a walk, I’m a bit restless,” she admitted with a lopsided grin. “I’m not disturbing you I hope?”

"Disturbing me? My lady, I am about to march to Pates to continue in my glorious campaign of crushing Soliferum. Every step takes me closer to finally coming back home. I cannot sleep, and I will not. Not until the war is won will I ever truly rest. The weight of a crown I cannot yet wear bears down on me. I am filled with excitement, and dread at the same time."

Thain turned, and gestured to the South.

"I cannot adequately describe how I feel. But I know I will feel much better when this is all over."

Seeing it on his face, and hearing it in his voice, she became caught up with his excitement, yet the dread he must feel was also a silent companion. “Yes, I can only imagine,” she said her eyes lighting up, “seeing as how I share some of the restlessness. Would you care for some company? I have to admit, I could not sleep either.”

"Tell me about your family, Lady Deianarah. I personally have never heard of House McDowell, and I do try and keep well informed, so I feel inadequate not knowing more."

He said, massaging his aching neck. He was sore all over, a familiar feeling, but he had been pushing himself especially hard the past week. He knew what was waiting for him.

Deianarah frowned as he massaged his neck. “Have you hurt yourself?” she questioned with a slight tinge of concern in her voice.

She then thought of her family, and her parents, she had not left on the best terms. “I would not be surprised you have not heard of us. We originate from Fontan, but all records would indicate otherwise. My father and uncle breed and train warhorses. We are a long line of trained warriors. From early childhood we are taught military tactics, and are adept in several different forms of fighting, as well as extensive knowledge in all weapons.” She did not look at him, she could imagine he probably did not believe her, most people didn’t. She had lived a hard life, one in which there had not been much freedom.

“It has only been a few years since we were freed from the oppression that led us into hiding. I am told we owe our gratitude to none other than a Bedwyr.” He looked at her with interest and she nodded.

“Yes, the very same name King Jenred bears. I have never gotten the full details but it is thanks to a member of his family,” she said quietly and looked away. “Perhaps it is why I felt I would find a home here. It was only a short while ago I was trying to find my brother Alec. I did manage to find him, only to lose him to the Netherworld. No one has seen or heard of him since. My eldest sister Sorsha resides in D’Hara, in Dwilight. I have not heard from her in some time. Last there is the issue of my cousin Kaylan, she was last seen in Cathay. She has disappeared without so much as a trace, well I lie… they say she took her own life, but I have yet to receive any proof. They never did find her body.

She looked back at him awkwardly, “I don’t suppose this is what you wished to hear… it seems their lives are all surrounded with tragedy but my own."
