'''Roleplay from Alec McDowell'''

Alec had arrived in Oligarch, hoping to see his cousin Kaylan but she was not at her estate. He figured he would get a chance to see her soon enough. Instead he walked through town and made his way to the nearest tavern. His dirty blond hair was somewhat short, and he reached up to pass his hand through it in a bit of frustration. “Where are they?” he mused and his green eyes spotted a redhead coming out of the tavern he had been preparing himself to enter.

The small gold flecks in his eyes twinkled and he gave a lopsided grin, “perfect.” As he approached, the red head stopped long enough to give him a piercing glare and he returned an easy smile, he couldn’t believe how much she looked like his cousin. She sniffed and continued on her way and he took the moment to turn around and look at her backside. “Not too shabby,” he whispered under his breath and opened the door.

When he walked in he looked around and frowned. There wasn’t a woman in sight. He did spot a young man, looking to try and drown himself in the mug in front of him. One eyebrow rose and he approached with a grin. “Hey you look handsome enough,” he stated and sat in front of him without waiting for an invitation. “You must have them flocking to you, like bees to honey, where are you hiding them?”

The young man seemed to freeze at being spoken too but simply continued to look in his mug of ale. Alec wanted to laugh and instead looked away to a passing barmaid and pointed to the young man’s mug and motioned one for himself. Leaning over, he whispered, “I don’t think they’re in there,” he shrugged comically then leaned back, extending his legs lazily. “But then again, if you stare long enough who knows what you’ll find.”

The girl approached and gave him his drink and Alec looked up, giving her a handsome smile and she seemed to almost swoon at the attention. He was handsome and he knew it, and didn’t bother to hide the fact, that he knew. He was about to say something else, but she was called over by another patron.

The young man finally looked up and Alec laughed at his expression. “The women,” he said enthusiastically and his companion appeared to be mortified. “Where are they? I’m sure one of them can use some Alec loving,” he grinned, “I need to release some tension,” he stretched his shoulders and looked ahead, “you look like you need it too.”

'''Roleplay from Zadek Dragul'''

Zadek was sitting still at the table where he and Fiona had been sitting. He sipped his ale and thought he must have sounded the fool to her. She was probably relieved that she had been presented with an opportunity to leave.

Zadek looked up at this young man who was apparently talking to him.

“Excuse me?” Zadek asked. The young man repeated himself, and Zadek turned an intense shade of red. “I’m … sorry but I don’t know any ladies…..in fact the only one I would be interested in just left thinking me the idiot of the world.” Zadek returned to drinking his ale. What was he going to do about Fiona?

Alec stared at him for a minute and couldn’t hold it in anymore and laughed. “Are you serious? That spitfire that just walked out the door,” he said and looked over. “Oh no, that won’t do,” he grinned, “that my friend, and I’m speaking from personal experience, was a wildcat, you’re still a kitten,” he grinned mischievously and took a long drink of his ale. An idea struck him and he slammed his mug to the table, “come on, you can’t wallow in self pity, you need to do something with all that raw energy, let’s take a walk,” he gave him a lopsided grin and grabbed him by the shoulder. “I didn’t get your name,” he asked and the young man looked ready to bolt. “Za… Zadek,” he stammered as Alec pushed him to the door.

“I’m Alec,” he introduced himself in turn, now having gotten that out of the way.

“I’m sure we won’t have to look long,” he laughed and Zadek tried to stop his feet and Alec laughed giving him a shove. Too stunned or shy to protest. Alec had seen his type before and the lad needed to break out of his confining shell and fast, or he would never get the attention of his Lady. Alec decided he would be kind enough to help him.

'''Roleplay from Zadek Dragul'''

The sun was shining brightly outside. It was late, too late for Zadek to still be sleeping. Then he remembered. He had been up all night.

That had been a wild ride to say the least. This new noble, Alec was that his name? Zadek shook his head to clear it. The ale from last night had a major kick this morning. Anyway, Alec had literally drug him to the nearest house of ill repute last night. He had gone in found a “lady” and paid her for “taking care of his buddy’s problem.” He had also whispered something in her ear that made her giggle.

Zadek had been profoundly embarrassed. He laughed slightly now. He had talked to the girl. Even though she had offered more, a lot more. In fact he had talked her to sleep. He was reasonably sure that wasn’t what Alec had in mind when he had taken Zadek to the establishment. Oh well, that was the least of his problems right now, it wasn’t like he would likely meet up with this noble again. He didn’t usually frequent taverns either. His problem was Dame Fiona. He smiled at the thought…the smile faded. She must think him an utter idiot.

At that moment, Burgolf his captain, appeared at the doorway to his tent.

“Sir?” Burgolf began, “There is a gentleman here to see you. He says you are old friends; he gave his name as Alec McDowell.”

Without waiting for the man to let him in, Alec barged into the tent. “There you are…”he  looked around and spotted Zadek in his cot. “What are you still doing sleeping?” he chuckled and Zadek blinked tiredly.

“Do I have a treat for you,” Alec said enthusiastically and grabbed some bread on the nearby table. Sitting down he took a large bite and chewed elaborately. “I have to say, when you let go, you really let go,” he said around a mouthful of food.

At those words Zadek sat upright quickly, his hands immediately reaching for his head and Alec continued to chew nonchalantly.  “How much do you remember?” he asked with a mischievous grin.

Zadek opened his mouth to speak but closed it quickly, looking confused. When he didn’t reply Alec leaned forward and examined him with his green hazel eyes. “You….” he laughed lightly and then sat back in the chair, extending his legs. “Talked to her huh?,” he chuckled and took another bite.

“That’s okay, I have to admit after that, she was….” Alec whistled and closed his eyes, “desperate to please. Thanks Zady,” he said with enthusiasm and rose from his chair.

Amused at the new shade of red on Zadek’s face Alec approached. “It’s okay, we’re going to do it all over again, but today we’ll get an early start.” The blonde man before him looked up appalled. “Tell you what though, I’ll buy you lunch, this bread’s stale anyway” he said as he threw it back to the table. “You can tell me all about this Dame you’ve got your eye on.”

Zadek looked up at the whirlwind that had just entered his tent unnanounced. He wasn't sure what they were going to get an earlier start at, and wasn't sure he wanted to know either. But Zadek figured he could use some lunch. After all, maybe Alec was right, maybe talking about Dame Fiona would make it easier to approach her as well.

“All right, lunch, but no more of that killer ale. I will be ready to leave in a bit.”

Alec left him to get ready, and Zadek called for his scribe.

“Please write a letter to Dame Fiona, thanking her for a lovely evening, and be sure to tell her that I would very much enjoy meeting her again. Please make sure that you stop to pick some more of those beautiful roses to take to her as well. Make sure they are delivered to her hand only.”

The scribe headed out to take care of the message. Zadek shook off his cloak and put it on. Well off to lunch with the whirlwind. But this time he wasn’t going to let it blow him in directions he wasn’t sure he wanted to go.

It was a while later when Alec met Zadek as he was finally walking out of his tent. So you ready sunshine?” he nudged the other man and chuckled when he looked down in surprise. “What kind of snack do you want? Blonde, brunette…” he waited then slyly put in, “redhead?”

Right on cue, came the appalled look and Alec laughed, “I’m kidding, wow do you need to loosen up. You’ll have to show me around, I’m still getting to know the place,” he informed seriously. “So what’s her name? Where is she from? Better yet, does she have a sister?” his brows quirked suggestively and they continued to walk towards town.

'''Roleplay from Fiona Onxyien'''

Fiona shuffled her clothes around in a small bag getting ready to head out to Greatbridge when a man showed up at her door flap.

"Lady Fiona" he bowed extending his hand out with a bouquet of roses

"Master Zadek wished me to delivered these to you with this milady" he gave her a letter

Bringing the flowers to her face, her lips curled into a soft smile. Holding the bouquet in her arms her fingers found the seal and she broke it and read the letter.

<i>Lady Fiona,

I wanted to thank you for the lovely evening. I would very much enjoy meeting you again sometime.

Zadek Dragul</i>

"Thank you can you please wait outside and give me a moment I'd like to respond to Sir Zadek" she smiled

"Yes of course milady" he bowed and walked out

<i>" Short and sweet"</i> she said in a low tone talking to herself.

<i>" I think I'm starting to like this Zadek" </i>she smiled and plucked a couple rose petals from the previous bouquet. She changed the old water and set the new one in the vase along with the others. Grabbing paper and ink she sat at the table.

<i>Sir Zadek

Thank you for the roses, I must say you know how to bring a smile to a lady's face. I would very much enjoy seeing you again. I'm headed for Greatbridge now, but upon my return I'll shall send word to you.

Fiona,</i>

Sealing the letter she walked outside and handed a couple silver coins to the boy and a return letter for Zadek.

"See that your master gets this" she smiled at him

"And that's for patiently waiting" she grinned

This was not like her and she knew it. Zadek brought a different side out of her, but she liked it. It made her smile.

'''Roleplay from Zadek Dragul'''

Zadek and Alec stopped at a nearby tavern. He had heard from others that the food here was good and it was a quiet place. It seemed a bit formal, but he supposed they were dressed well enough for a simple lunch. They sat at a table and Alec started teasing the serving wench about something. Zadek looked away, still slightly embarrassed and bemused by his strange new friend.

“We’ll have two of your best plates and a couple of mugs of ale” Alec told the wench. Zadek quickly interrupted with “No, make mine a glass of wine, something light.” Alec laughed and nodded his head. The wench hurried away to fetch their order.

“Now tell me about this Dame that has caught your fancy, “Alec prompted.

Zadek paused for a moment. How did you tell someone about Fiona?

He took a breath and began “she was one of my sister’s lady’s at her wedding. She is a fiery red-head, with a beauty that is matched by none I have seen in 3 continents.”

The wench returned then with their meals and drinks. Alec looked up at her and winked, My dear, you have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen,” he said as she set down the plates. He looked at Zadek, “Aren’t her eyes just beautiful, Zadek?”

Zadek looked up embarrassed, “umm yes lovely eyes” and started in on his meal as if he hadn’t eaten in a month.

The wench smiled as Alec handed her several coins to pay for the meals and a tip and moved on to the next table to take care of the patrons there. She looked back over her shoulder and Alec gave her another wink.

“Quite lovely indeed,” Alec laughed. “But more of this one that seems to have caught all of your attention.”

Zadek smiled, “I really don’t know much except that by all reports she is a fierce fighter. I had never seen her before my sister’s wedding. Her name is Fiona Onyxien.

As if on cue…Zadek’s messenger came into the tavern and after looking around to find him, brought a letter to him.

“The Lady said to bring this to you right away” he said.

Alec looked at Zadek curiously while he read the letter.

“Hmm so maybe she doesn’t think I am a total idiot anyway” said Zadek, smiling as he put the letter in his pocket. “That will be all” he said to his messenger and sent him away.

Zadek finished his meal and looked at Alec. "If you will excuse me for a bit, I have some business that I need to attend to. I shall return shortly and we can continue this discussion if you wish," he said.

He walked outside into the street and scanned the area for a shop he knew he had seen on this street. Finding it, he went inside. He smiled to the owner and walked over to the case in the corner. There it was, the beautiful ornate dagger he had seen the last time he was here. It had roses and green vines entwined on the hilt, and the scabbard had ornate gold leaves around it. "I will take this," he said to the man. "Have it wrapped and sent at once to Dame Fiona. Please send this message with it."

<i>Dame Fiona,

Please accept this small gift from me, I am sure you will be able to use it well if the need arises. I look forward to seeing you again, perhaps in Greatbridge?

Sir Zadek Dragul</i>

He paid the owner and started back to the tavern where his new found friend waited for him. He shook his head, was there anyone in the world like Alec McDowell?

Fiona walked back in and headed straight to the flowers smiling. Zadek was starting to pique her curiosity and she didn’t know why he was so quiet. Maybe that’s why she liked him he was quiet the total opposite of her. Smiling she got up and walked to pub.

Opening the door she noticed a few people sitting around having some ale, another in the middle of the pub stuffing his face with food flirting with the barmaid. She walked passed the tables and went straight to the bartender.

“Lady Fiona” a tall man cleaning a glass approached

“Hi Charley, cold one please” she smile and slid a coin on the table

Turning around she noticed a man leaning on the chair his arm wrapped around the back, flirting with the poor barmaid. Shaking her head to herself laughing at him she turned over and looked at Charlie

“Now that’s a winner right there” she took a drink and laughed.

Upon seeing her enter, Alec smiled to himself and swallowed his last bit of food. The wildcat in question, had returned. He contemplated whether he should wait for Zadek to return, or to introduce himself first and simply ask her over. The barmaid was giving him inviting eyes and he grinned back. “You my dear, are just my kind of girl,” he grinned, “maybe I’ll come back for you later,” he whispered and she giggled.

Walking away, he approached Dame Fiona. He had to admit, Zadek had good taste, she was quite beautiful, and again he had a small glimpse of his cousin. “Say Wildcat,” he started smoothly, “would you like to join me for a drink?” he offered, and nodded towards his table. “I know someone who’s just dying to tame your mane,” he wiggled his brows suggestively and before he knew what happened, he was staring up at the ceiling. Finding himself counting the water stained boards. Stars momentarily flashed before his eyes and he reached up to his bloody lip.

Zadek walked in smiling to himself. He hoped Fiona would like his gift. Now he would figure out how to extract himself early from Alec, he liked the guy, but their attitudes about women didn’t match very well, and it was hard to talk to him about Fiona. He had to leave for Greatbridge in the morning as well, so he needed an early night tonight.

As he walked into the bar, the first thing that he saw was Fiona bent over Alec on a table. And she was kissing his cheek! Zadek realized now that he really was an idiot. No he was a fool, he had told Alec all about the woman that he really cared for, and now he could see that it was all a joke. Alec and Fiona didn’t seem to notice his arrival, so he would leave quietly.

He would be sure never to trouble the Lady again.

He turned on his heel and headed out the door. He didn’t hear them call out to him as he left.

Zadek returned to camp in a daze. He called for his captain, Burgolf and ordered him to gather the men immediately. They were riding for Greatbridge now.

He swung up in the saddle and rode for Greatbridge trying to outrun all the demons in his heart.

Alec’s head hit the table and he reached up to rub it. “That’s what I was trying to tell you,” he groaned miserably and moved off the table. Fiona returned, her eyes flashing with hatred and he put both hands up in a gesture of peace. “Wait.. wait… don’t hit me, just… just hear me out.” He said and moved his jaw to get some feeling back. “Nice hook by the way,” he grinned and hissed with pain as he did so. “I like you, no wonder he only has eyes for you,” he mumbled beginning to walk away. “I was just trying to have you come to the table, to join <i> Zadek </i> and I,” he emphasized his name and looked back to the door.

“Now I think he’ll never speak to me again, way to go Alec, your looks getting you into trouble again,” he whispered and began to walk away, deciding he should leave himself. He didn’t feel much like having fun now, since his new friend had decidedly left thinking him a backstabber. “How in the world am I going to explain this one,” he thought out loud.

'''Roleplay from Fiona Onyxien'''

“I don’t care how you fix it .. FIX IT.. This is all your fault!” she sat at the table shaking her head

“Just when I think things are going good this happens” she called another ale to Charley

She chewed the inside of her lip thinking how nice it was when they had dinner the other night , and the beautiful flowers he had sent. She brought her hand up to her forehead and leaned her elbow on the table. She felt awful but she didn’t quite know why, she just couldn’t get the look he gave her out of her mind as he walked out.

“Well no thanks to you, I don’t think I’ll be seeing Zadek again” she gave an evil stare, and got up and left

Walking back to her tent she sat at the table and lit a candle, she pulled a rose out of the vase and brought it to her face. Going over to her cot to lay down she felt something at her back, she reached under and pulled out a gift wrapped box and a letter. She recognized the seal and she closed her eyes and thought how much of an idiot she was to have behaved that way in front of Zadek. While the poor man was showering her with attention and gifts he walks in on her all over a man licking his face. She covered her face in embarrassment. Trying to forget the moment she reached down to the box and unwrapped it to find a beautiful dagger, the hilt was of an engrave rose entwined with vines. Now she felt like an even bigger idiot.

“Oh Zadek” she whispered admiring the dagger

Opening the letter she read the words in his handwriting which made it even more personal. She sighed and laid the letter down beside her as she rested back on the feather pillow. She examined the dagger and was trying to find a way to fix things. She couldn’t just let him believe what he saw. She jumped out of bed and called Eugen in, a few minutes later Eugen walked in the tent with a half alert look.

“Rally the men, were leaving now” she started to gather her things

“But my lady all the men.. Are.. Sleeping” he answered not sure what was going on

“Now Eugene” she snapped

“Yes Milady” he hollered at the men as he walk out

“Pack it up men, were heading out now” he sighed looking back at Fiona frowning not sure what had come over her

He knew her to be rational, but this... this was not rational, but he didn’t question her. A few moments later the walls of her tent had been pulled down and packed away. She grabbed the roses and wrapped them in paper and put them into a cloth bag and put them away. Grabbing the dagger around her thigh she took it out and replaced it with the dagger Zadek had given her.

“I want to reach Dublin in the morning, hope you got your rest sleeping beauties” she kicked her horse and rode out. She was going to fix this one way or another, regardless of the outcome she didn’t want Zadek to think of her that way.

'''Roleplay from Alec McDowell'''

After leaving the tavern, Alec had aimlessly wandered the streets, thinking about what had happened. He didn’t understand what went wrong, but when Zadek had entered, he wished he had realized Alec was being roughed up by the Amazon woman, not making nice with her. “What am I going to do now…” he whispered and passed his hand through his hair.  It was true, he was a fun loving guy, life was too short to take everything so seriously. He had watched his family go through too many hardships and had promised himself he wouldn’t fall into the same mold. Tonight, his easygoing nature had been crushed, because he watched as he unintentionally broke his new friend’s heart. He didn’t know why, but he had instantly liked Zadek, maybe because he could see his uncertainty from a mile away, and figured he could help him somehow. <i>So much for that.</i>

Upset, he gathered his men and ordered them to leave immediately for Dulbin. He would think of something….He always did.
