About the Lurian Herald
Day 21 of Spring

The Lurian Herald is the successor to many of Dwilight's previous newspapers - the Poryatown Press and the Dwilight Daily to name a few. For a long time, Dwilight has been without reliable and widespread news and so the House of Medici has taken up this task to serve our great continent. We do seek writers of all walks of lives and of all biases to write for the Lurian Herald. The newspaper itself is not strictly loyal to Luria, but its name comes from being based at the heart of Lurian lands, Giask. If you hold any interest, write to Alessio de Medici, and we shall bring you into the fold.

The Lurian Herald will be comprised of many forms of news - discussed in these pages will be philosophy, history, religion, politics, warfare, hobbies of the Highborn, anonymous advice, advertisements for taverns and academies and even those sent in by the readers of the Lurian Herald. Such advertisements are all free - the Lurian Herald is entirely funded by the House of Medici - we spare no expense.

Society? Culture!
Philosophy - by Alessio de Medici

Society is not real. As a concept, they exist, but we do not live on society, we live in cultures. This culture represents the living tapestry of our men and our women and how they define our qualities and our values from generation to generation. For many cultured Highborns all across Dwilight, we are all willing to take responsibility for our actions and their consequences, intended or otherwise. Equally, for many of us, we do our part in looking after the less fortunate noble families of our lands, providing the with funds and advice. Even commoners brave enough to fight monsters and the undead we recognise for their good service. In worse cultures, trust is a privilege of the few. They did not ask to come into our world, and perhaps were placed here by the gods. Some such parents refuse food, shelter, clothes - such that only a true barbarian would even consider. In Luria, at least, we all stand high with our families - and the families of others.

These cultures can change. These individual men and women, good or bad, can change for the prosperity or suffering of their families and their realms. Culture is far more important than even the concept of society, clubbing everybody together as a community. We are not the will of the people - we are better than that. Each view may have merit or it may not. It can be supported by a single man or every single person in a realm. Such popularity never affects its merit.

Ask Aunt Andreola
Advice - by Andreola de Medici

Question: I live on a farming community, and I have many questions about what we do. Who came up with milking cows? Eating chicken eggs? Answer: People are known to take bold risks to discover new information. That is likely what happened.

Question: What is another word for somebody who knows they are right? Answer: A woman.

Question: How do I become a successful D'Haran king? Answer: Easy - you charge into battle and get struck on the head enough. Soon enough, you will be paraded as a war hero with absurd ideas. Like living on an island!

Question: The man courting me wrote me a poem and it mentioned 'having butterflies' in his stomach. What is wrong with them? Answer: Perhaps he is nervous. Perhaps he is eating caterpillars.

Question: What does procrastinating mean? Answer: I will answer this question later.

Torrenism
Religion - by Yamada Sanekazu

article =Tor, God of War. Few follow this faith for immortality, but some of us most certainly do. I am one such warrior.

Literature
Poem - written by the late Isabella Pavus the Bloodless

The night was long, the day had been,

The roles of noble man all done,

For now he rested with his kin,

Dancing, singing, then feasting,

He dug into the baker’s bun,

The fresh-made bread had shiny sheen,

And he said, “all so well done”,

And smiled at the treat, all the while glistening,

But Dorian would soon be gone, The hero-priest, the admirable

Man that could withstand all brawn

And face of anything harrowing.

But maybe he was conquerable,

Human just like any on

A journey that was imponderable

Leaving sailed ship sinking.

He journeyed off out to the west,

Out to take on mighty foes,

All just to prove part of mad test,

To prove he was the harbinger,

Soon he learnt that he had woes

And may not come out his best.

But then a holy axe he shows

Truly the blood stars’ arbiter.

But more to him was Luria,

Land of the greatest kings,

Emperor, lords and area

Blessed by the divines it is.

The realm and where siren sings

Is where the gods throw feria

For gods and Luria swapped rings

And with this should be no ascesis.

Though not all here have been so smart

With likes of Harte and Dodger.

You might just think of knavery art

When trickery is all they’re dealing.

They sing of songs of Dodger’s Todger

And that of Chance’s Harte

That is to say worth less than slobber

All the while they are all missing!
