Long the property of Sir Jose Goodman of Mesh, Beluaterra, the Helm had become tarnished and dented with time. Searching for one who could act as liaison to a Repair Sage, the Knight eventually entrusted the task to a freewoman known as Saffron, relying largely on her previous discovery of the Ancient Book of Forbidden Knowledge.
This Saffron woman spent many hours searching for a Sage in two adjacent regions. On the second day she found one who offered the repair work if she but had some Old Coins which could be used to repair the metal of the Helm. He took half of those which she carried and returned the Helm in 66% condition. Suddenly (s)he was gone, leaving Saffron a bit dizzy.
She continued searching in order to improve the Helm still more, unwilling to return it to Sir Goodman in such a state. Later the same day she found a Sage (the same one or another, who could tell?) offering the same sort of repair, needing the last of the Coins she held. She wavered. Could this be so easy? Might her coins be wasted? How many Sages had she seen offer "this and that" in exchange for just "such and so" from her horde, only to have some trinket melt or explode as the Sage vanished? If this was the Sage she spoke to earlier, he might do no harm, so she handed over the Helm and the Coins.
What a surprise! She got the Helm back in 99% condition after just a moment with the Sage. Now she could head back to Sir goodman with a happy heart.
