Hearth Family

A peasant by the name of Thomas was drafted into the armies of the Cagilan Empire in Ravening. Due to his valor in combat he was granted the title of Freeman, given a small parcel of land on his masters estate and granted the family name of Hearth. When Thomas fell sick his eldest son, Thomas Hearth II, took over the families land. With Thomas Hearth II as head the family thrived and even after giving the noble his share became wealthy by Freeman standards. However one of his sons, Brindal Hearth, fell in love with a nobles daughter. Without the knowledge of the families they were wed in the capital of Cagilan by a drunken priest. When they returned to Ravening it was apparent that the nobles daughter was with child.

As Ravening is known for its gossip and the noble was a proud man so to try and save face he had Brindal Knighted and retired to the Northern Tower of his estate. His daughter was confined to her room and he began planning the demise of the Hearth Family. In the dead of night assasins crept into the Hearth home and killed all the men that were there. Only two men were left alive, Brindal Hearth the brother of Thomas Hearth, who had been out hunting a lost sheep, and his son, Brindalier Hearth, who had left months before with a merchant train. Thomas's wife was crafty, she took the remains of her family into hiding. She then hired some infantry men to follow the merchants path and deliver a message to her nephew, Brindalier Hearth, and prayed it would arrive in time to save their Family.
