Anarion rode in the vanguard of the Gryphonguard as his chariot approached the Palace of the Queen. Enthusiastic throngs cheered at the passing soldiers, but their loudest cheers were saved for Anarion, the new Grand Imperator. Anarion smiled paternally and waved at the admiring onlookers, struggling not to let his throbbing headache show. It had tormented him all morning, and seemed to be getting worse as the horns and drums of the triumphal celebration reached their climax. Reaching the palace, Anarion leapt from his chariot. He strode up the marble stairs toward the waiting Queen while the strange and heavenly music caused him to look up the broad stairs, where his tear-blurred eyes saw the council of the Empire with tens of other nobles in the background. His scarlet cloak was fluttering proudly in the breeze and his forest-green plume decorated a beautifully carved helmet. His panoply was in a perfect condition. His armor, given to him by his father before the ceremony, was perfectly shaped with each fluting contributing to an elegant whole. No detail was wasted, nothing distracted from the perfection of its design. The gleaming steel plates each bore inscriptions along their edges which were smoothly inlaid in bright gold. The longsword Aquilir rested peacefully on his belt guarding its noble possessor. As the Queen recited the duties of a new Grand Imperator, Anarion reminiscences his old and even ancient line and the pride and honor he brought upon the names of his ancestors on this day. He slowly yet determinately spoke his oath to the Lurian Empire and his Queen. The crowd cheered at his last line opening up a way for Anarion to pass. The maidens threw flowers along the path he walked as the Grand Imperator made his way to the city gates, before omitting himself to the rich feast of celebration in the silver city of Askileon.
