Grindle Family

The Grindles have a long and interesting history, but sadly have such poor memories that no-one now has much of a clue what that history involves. But being a noble family, they assume it to involve dragons, heroics, and the conquering of tea plantations. Their history is known no further back than Nether and Hope Grindle, a kind and wealthy couple from many years ago.

Hopefully over time, the family will be able to write down their triumphs and failures for future Grindles to read and forget. Sadly, they are more likely to spend it fighting for their lands, and raiding tea and biscuits from the local peasants through charm, cunning and swordsmanship.

Crip Grindle

Crip Grindle is the eldest currently touring the Battlemaster lands. He started his career on Atamara, in Elroth, in the Duchy of Barad Gardor, under Falasan rule, where he was quick to enter battle against Eston, and is trying to make a name for himself under the banner of the rabbit. Fair-minded and responsible, he can usually be relied on to lead his men well. He prefers Earl Grey and dark chocolate hobnobs.

Dor Grindle

Dor, first cousin of Crip, is also on Atamara, in Abington. After a couple of feeble attempts to lead troops into battle, most of which involved him getting there too late and doing no good, he has turned his hand to some more subtle work, spending time with papers rather than swords. Although weak in battle, his amiable nature and logical mind make him useful behind the scenes. He prefers Darjeeling with a little milk, bourbons and coconut rings.

Cal Grindle

Cal, second cousin to Crip and Dor, is the grouchy inhabitant of the realm of Perdan, a Knight of Perdan Mines. He tends to think that everything should be Perdan His, and longs to show how much better he is than Crip and Dor. He has a headstrong streak, probably from his domineering grandmother, Tot, which can get him in trouble, but he will usually make a good attempt to fight his way out of it. Unlike his older siblings, he has avoided capture for petty crimes in his youth, and retains the respect that his noble ancestry deserves. His lavish tastes include Assam, with giant chocolate-chip cookies.

Tidey Grindle

Barely deserves a mention here. Cal's sister, who spent much of her youth in petty crime and was shunned by her family, is now away from home trying to regain some of her nobility. On a good day, you can catch a glimpse of her in Beluaterra. On a better day, you can't. She deserves neither tea nor biscuits, so makes do with mud and river-water.
