Family Granitecleaver dates back to the time of the First Major War. The founding noble of Family Granitecleaver was Barl Granitecleaver. The Family Granitecleaver is known mainly as dandies and courtesans. It wasn't until Astinex Granitecleaver became a Knight that the Granitecleaver even had a family member join the military since Barl.

The Founding

According to the family history, Barl Granitecleaver became a knight during The First Major War. It was due to his heroics that the Granitecleaver Family was awarded its lands in Ash'rily. Though after the First Major War, Barl retired and settled his newly granted lands. Barl’s only son Eldon was a spindly sort and not of warrior stock. When Eldon took over his father’s holdings he began a family tradition of not serving as a Knight.

Both Barl and Eldon treated their serfs fairly and managed the lands with moderate success. Because of this, the peasants of the Granitecleaver lands were content to toil away without fear of being drawn into conflict.

What is not kept in the Family’s histories can be heard out among the serfs.
It is sometimes spoken in hushed whispers Sir Barl Granitecleaver had obtained
his knighthood under dubious circumstances. Some even speak of Sir Barl being
a lucky coward. Yet any found to have said this have been hanged.

Family Reputation

Family Granitecleaver has done well for itself lately. Due to recent period of food shortages of food in the Kingdom of the Ash Sea Islands Family Granitecleaver was able to trade their surpluses at a premium. Due to the extra income the Family has begun to send its members to the capital so they may participate in the affairs of the court. While not adding anything of value, the Family members have enjoyed the parties and gossip which always accompany court affairs.

Among the circles of dandies in the court, the Family Granitecleaver
is known as gossipers and to a certain extent loafers. Though it cannot
be denied that some of the most beautiful people are born to family
            Granitecleaver.
