In this Chapter we see the massive Political changes which brought about the fall of the Old Council. Not only that, but we also see how even though the Old Council members are gone, the same culture of dominance that ruled over Giblot before, still exists...

The Fall of the Old Council

The consequences of this very election, still reverberate throughout Giblot to this very day. Ever since the day Thanatos had his first taste of power, Thanatos has only been displaced twice, even then, only on mere technicalities. But to understand you must know the circumstances...

Although Thanatos won the election there is no evidence he had any wide support. Thanatos hadn't even announce his campaign to become Prime Minister. A great many protests where organised against this highly disputed political change. With the support of one or two more Nobles, perhaps the history of Giblot could have been changed forever? However it was not to be, and Thanatos stayed in power for a long time to come.

It has since come to light that Thanatos apparently used some sort of witchcraft or sorcery to summon minions from another plane of exsistence which he used to shore up his support in secret. Although a few of these minions have since spurned their master, several high profile minions still staunchly support their master, even to this day.

In another controversy which bolstered the protests at the beginning of Thanatos reign, Gotchaz was appointed as Duke of Giblot after arriving in our lands five days previously. In the end however, both Thanatos and Gotchaz survived their period of discontent. And so began the subjugation of opinion and free speech in Giblot...

Surprise Re-Confirmation

Regardless of the rucus that had been caused the previous month, Thanatos managed to remain in office as Prime Minister of Giblot. It was after this election that some of the older Nobles of Giblot began to leave for other Continents, in another sort of protest against the apparent miscarriage of their votes. Sometime during this month Thanatos was wounded in Battle and Sadi took his place until the end of the month.

Consolidation of Power

The political change that took place in the third month of Thanatos reign was largely down to the debacle that was the planned attack against Outer Tilog City. Although the plan was to invade along with the Lukonites, it never happened the way one might've hoped....

A massive army had been gathered in Rollsovar ready to attack the Outer Tilogian Capital. Though, many of these Nobles wished to stop the Tilogians marauding in Helsera, it wasn't this that bungled the attack. It was the apparent secrecy of the Council in their plans to invade which caused the failure. Even though Thanatos had very recently embarked on a quick hiking holiday upon the Drengan mountains, Sadi and Goergyboy continued with the attack. The invasion force landed in two waves and was utterly slaughtered.

It was the fallout from this failed attack that forced Sadi into self-exile, while Goergyboy was elected into his place on the Council. Later on Gheros left Giblot too, sickened by the events of the previous few months. She was soon replaced by Alexander.

In another incident that showed the frayed relationship between the Old and new members of the Giblot Hierarchy, Sadi had Gildon banned for straying into enemy lands before he left for a new Realm. Goergyboy quickly lifted the ban, but it was too late. Gildon had joined Wetham. Valion also left at around the same time to join the Assassins Guild. The members of the Old Council had gone...

The Death of Free Speech

The Council now finally stablised, the Council would remain like this until Goergyboy finally stepped down in the Fifth month of the Fifth year of the Second Millenium. Only three of Giblot's once many Ancient troopleaders now remained: Maj. Gen. R.H. Anderson, Ioanna, and Goergyboy.

Although Giblot's first birthday occurred shortly after the Council stabilised, this fact was now unknown to many.
