Giblot (Realm)/Proper Party

During the night of 070407, Sir Saiga made a suggestion of establishing Political Parties in the Nation of Giblot, in The Colonies. Sir Black Recluse was immediately inspired by this idea, and issued this:

The Guiding Principles of the "Proper Party".

• Striving for Goodness is the best course.

• Goodness is known by this:

It does the greatest Benefit to the Most people for the Longest time.

• Peace, Stability, and Security are the best things for all people everywhere.

• Wealth and Profit are merely tools to attain Greater Goodness.

• Those who seek Goodness will very often find themselves opposed by the Vainglorious.

then later that night . . .

"Going for a Grand Vision, I could see the Proper Party being embraced in Wetham, Alebad, and Alowca as well, in time."

(Obviously, his imagination was in high gear, going down a greased incline clear of obstacles. so far . . . )

and later . . .

Letter to Sir Grotek:

"At present the 'Party' is 'ad hoc', just whatever we talk about between ourselves.

What I need to do is get to the Bank, take care of my squad, then get to Wirkfyr where I can establish a Guild, which will be the Official "Party". I may have to borrow from my family to do so."

and the next day . . .

To my six vassal Knights,

Reviewing my Estate in Wirkfyr, I have also taken a look at building the Guildhouse for the "Proper Party".

It will take 300G, apparently having to come from Family funds, which will also take a point or two away from my own Honour.

SO I have to ask myself, "Is it Worth it?" The Party will

• unify its members for Political action,
• help assure election of preferred candidates
• groom aspiring politicos for their desired positions.
• etc.

- Who of you would join the Party?

- Who of you would want to run for Office someday?

- Who of you think the whole idea is a kettle of fish?

- Who of you have other thoughts?

Join the "ad hoc Proper Party".

Just tell me you are interested in any way.

The PP will promote Goodness, train aspiring Politicos, Campaign for chosen Candidates, give you a chance for the Lordship or Leadership you desire, and give eager members a chance to gain Honour and Fame for themselves and their families.

So far I have had one very earnest Noble helping me congeal the purposes and possibilities for the Party. I would like to have similar input from several more before I commit a large chunk of Family Funds to such a project.

And what about the Opposition? Is it to remain simply chattering rabble? Or is some Lord or aspiring Lord with an alternate vision? I hope there are none in Giblot who would Oppose Goodness, but there are surely other ways to promote alternate candidates.
