Here is the unbelievably ignorant reply of Chancellor Gregor to Pontifex reston, when the latter asked for the reasons of war.

"Letter from Gregor (2 hours, 40 minutes ago) Avamar is not a legitimate state, it fosters rebellions, and promotes discord. As such we have decided to support our ally with one expedition. When, the traitor Widfara, Travis, and Eireka all defected to your realm, and we gave your then Pontifex an ultimatum to hand them over or we will continue to march, we were told to goto hell. We have captured Travis, tortured him and killed him. Widfara has escaped us so far. Eireka however remains at large for the moment. In any event, we plan to fulfill our pledge to see the end of your realm.

Nice words, but there is an objective problem here. Widfara and Eireka are not in Avamar Selective although the Fontanese troops keep burning and pillaging the Island!
