Rebuilding the realm

The Estonite forces eventually brought the city of Massillion back under the blue and yellow banner, signaling the end of the Massillionite resistance. A treaty was signed, Tintar was handed back to Eston by Bud, the last Prime Minister of the Massillion Republic. The nobles of Massillion were offered a career in Eston, an offer which many took up. The provinces within the duchy of Massillion had lords appointed, and the rebuilding began. Slowly but steadily, Eston managed to regain the trust and confidence of the Massillionite civilians, until the duchy was fully reintegrated into the realm. With Massillion back under full control, the next stage in the rebuilding of Eston began. Many recruitment centers were upgraded, others were torn down and replaced with better ones. Fortifications were raised, and the individual duchy armies began the process of rebuilding their strength, in case another war would break out in the north of Atamara. A tournament was hosted in Hawthorne, which was attended by approximatly 150 nobles from all of Atamara. Relations with the old enemies were improved, and Eston began the effort to retake their place as one of Atamara's most respected realms.

Cultural Renaissance

After Massillion was reincorporated to the Kingdom of Eston, there began to be a change in Eston. The composer Dafayo Vashmere wrote a number of symphonies, and great artwork was made. Around the same time, King Andrew McKay sought a wife and, eventually, was married to then Lady Taiasin, now Queen Taiasin. Also, the guild known as the Order of the Citadel, and its sister guild the Eye of the Citadel, began to become a common cultural entity in Eston, and works of philosophy and literature began to be published. A guildhouse for the Atamaran Writers' Association was built, further increasing Eston's devotion to fine arts. Interestingly enough, much of this was caused by the Kingdom of Eston's revoltion for the Blackest Cult. It became a center of rightness and good to counteract the evil of the Blackest Cult. Yet, a the height of the Northern Renaissance, one of its leading artists and propogators, Dafayo Vashmere (who also attempted to found a university but, sadly, failed) was found to be a member of the Blackest Cult, and sent into exile in a foreign land. Also, a great tournament was held during this time.

Post-Massillion Foreign Policy

After the fall of Massillion, most of the world was polarized by what side of the Abington War you were on. Those who fought against Abington were, primarily, Ash Sea Islands, Minas Ithil, and Talerium, while Tara and Cagilan Empire (also, Darka was contracted) fought against Abington's federation allies: RedSpan and Carelia. Falasan also participated, and the BoM sent some aid against Abington. In the end, ASI regained the Islands, Carelia was enormously shrunken, and repeated Colony attempts and looting raids on Abington left it wounded when peace was signed. All during this time, Eston sent out long-term ambassadors to foreign nations, to seek to strengthen bonds between nations, and help Eston become, once agan, a respected nation abroad. But the truly defining foreign policy of this time was the Northern Federation between Norland, Eston, and the Barony of Makar. What once was a war of the bloodiest sort, became a friendship which we hope will prosper into the future.

"War" With Minas Ithil

After a while of tense diplomatic manuevering, the Northern Federation declared war on Minas Ithil with intent to enforce the Ariston Doctrine. All lands beyond the Northern River would be removed from the control of Minas Ithil. Minas Ithil gave in to the NF's demands; and a brief pseudo-war was fought, in which Amriel and Elost were taken by Norland, and Amdor was taken by Eston. After the war, diplomatic tensions remained high, peaking when an Ithilian infiltrator avenged the death of Raziel2 in a duel by murdering eleven guards in Barad Lacirith, followed by an attempt on the life of a Dame of Eston.
