It was an impressive view when the Crusaders Timast and Alana enter the Temple District with their Units. Hardened men and woman all of them, perfect equipement and the fires of the Stars in their eyes.

Medugnatos stepped out into the Light of the evening sun to greet them and give them his blessing for the long and dangerous journey that lay ahead of them. He exchanged a brotherly hug with Timast and gifted Alana with a gentle and fatherly smile.

"I am proud. You have mustered a force that will be recognized in Thulsoma and during the crusade. Very well done."

Then he stepped in front of the warriors.

"Faithful, you have along journey ahead of you and many dangers will lay in your way but with the blessing of the Bloodstars and the keen and experienced leadership of Lord Timast and Lady Alana you will prevail and bring honor to Corsanctum and the Bloodstars. I bless you on your way, may you find short roads, weak enemies and generous friends on your path. Once you are back I will personally greet you at this place again, waiting with a feast and a hand of extra gold for all of you. Now make your way to the heathen and show them the Sword of the Bloodstars is sharp and willing to do the bidding of the Stars"

"FOR THE BLOODSTARS!", was the answer and Medugnatos couldnt prevent to show how pleased he was.

Turning around he adressed Alana and Timast once more.

"You have my blessing. Come back in one piece. That is the only personal favour I ask from you. Now go."

Medugnatos stood long in the courtyard, waving the Crusaders good bye. If only they came home well and uninjured he prayed.

Alana and her troops marched out of Mimer with swords and shields gleaming, banners and flags streamed behind them and fire stirred in all their hearts. They would fight for the Bloodstars and for Corsanctum and every man knew his duty. There was a long road ahead but at the start of the journey spirits were high. As she passed through the Temple District gate she stopped and let her troops file past her while she looked back at the Regent. Proudly she drew herself up to the fullest height she could muster and though she barely reached the shoulders of many of the men she felt taller and stronger than all of them. With a final wave back to Medugnatos she turned, flicked her hair behind her and strode after her formation.

Timast Solacesta of Corsanctum rides next to Lady Alana of Corsanctum as their men march towards Muspelheim. Timast can already see that the Crusade has already caused the city to bustle with extreme activity.

Smiling in satisfaction, Timast looks around and recognizes much of the Morek that he knew upon being Lord of Cailyn many years ago. Frowning slightly, he recalls that much indeed has changed since those days and the recent bitter divisiveness in the Church is only a symptom of the greater underlying poison within.

Shaking himself out of his grim thoughts, he nods towards Lady Alana and leans closer so that she may better hear him speak, "The Sword of Our Faith is strong here, and I cannot help but feel wonder regarding the gathered might within these Walls. We shall tear down the walls of those Heathens and shout our glory to The Stars! By Them, it feels very good to be battling once again!"

Timast Solaceta of Corsanctum visited Lady Alana in her battlefield tent. He saw the arrow she took when the order to retreat came too late to her unit.

Speaking softly to the healers he inquired as to her wounds, they said that she was still mostly unconscious due to the fact that the arrow gave her a nasty blow to the head after falling from such a height and striking her on the temple. If it were not for her helmet, the blow would have proved faithful.

Nodding to himself, he left a message with her Squire for them to contact him as soon as she wakes. He found himself realizing that Warriors of the Faith such as this one came around rarely, and went back to his tent to pray to the Stars that his Realm mate come out the other side in one piece.

Working his way back to his own command tent, he thought to himself, "Now we begin the second round of attacks. May the Stars see that we do great damage to the Heathens."

Alana opened her eyes and things swam into focus. Her head felt fuzzy though. Slowly she sat up.

She remembered commanding one last assault on the keep, her infantry the last battalion on the field. Standing at the base of the walls she had just seen the call to retreat when suddenly everything went black. The roaring of the battle slowly fading as her legs gave way.

'Lord Timast?' she mumbled to one of the healing staff.

'Aye the gentleman came to see you earlier, still asleep you were.'

Relieved, Alana smiled slightly and sunk back onto the makeshift straw cot. Blackness descended again.

A few hours later she regained consciousness and her head felt clearer. She called for brandy and after a substantial gulp she got up only to find that she had missed the second round of battle and a lot of Thulsoman sledging. Slightly annoyed she stomped off with a flick of her hair and went to gather her men for the third round and then to find Lord Timast to ask why he hadn't woken her earlier.

At least she had a chance in the morning and by the Light of the Stars they would prevail.

Timast Solacesta looked left, then right at the Brothers and Sisters arrayed on the battlefield before him. He looked again at the walls of the Keep which, he wearily admitted had been one of the greatest tests of his long life.

He turned around to address his 7 men. 7 men who have survived assault after assault on the Keep while many of their brothers bleed and have bled out to follow through on their righteous path of duty.

No one here was without wound. There has not even been time for proper burial and Rites to the dead, for the only hope was to clear them as much as possible to prevent disease spreading through the ranks.

He raised his sword, notched along the blade in many places from the sheer amount melee combat that he had participated in.

Brothers! Now we must prepare ourselves for one Final Assault. Watch yourself when scaling these walls! The archers will provide us cover! These Heathens have fought well and bled well but do not mistake that they are, however brave yet misguided, the Enemy. We must take our Faith and our blades to them one more time!

Turning, he nodded to the Troop Leaders of all Realms of the Faith represented here. Preparing for the Marshal's Order to charge. Before long, it came, a lone clarion call from multiple Horns. He fixed the location of his unknowing Charge, Lady Alana, and her troop in his mind. He was not about to fail his duty to his Regent to protect her at all costs during this Crusade now that they were so close to breaching the walls!

The archers loosed their arrows, pinning the few remaining archers behind the battlements as the Infantry advanced. Trotting at first, Timast held his sword high above him so that his men would maintain rank as they started to break through the last lines of the archers and out in the the wastelands of the killing field between the archer lines and the walls of the keep.

A clarion call of two notes went up again and he screamed and broke into a run leading the mad dash to the walls where the angle of attack from the defenders made it unlikely that they would be able to score many hits upon the attackers.

Stray arrows slammed into the ground by him as he ran, urging his body to respond to his commands one more time, one last sprint, until they reached the walls.

Gasping for breath, he took count of the infantry at the walls. Nearly all had made it without incident.

Up came the scaling ladders, slowly inching their way up the walls. Timast looked and saw that same resolve in the eyes of his men that he knew was reflected in his.

Up they scaled, seeming going forever until they reached the top... The rest was a blur... Gaining the top of the wall was no easy feat, even when the defenders were so decimated as to barely be able to man one third of the wall. Luckily, Timast's men came up at a bare spot. He ran towards the press of bodies trying to gain a foothold on the walls, but they were pushed back. Once, twice, three times his sword fell on defenders, dispatching them. Cursing and pushing, Timast and the Faithful struggled against the slowly faltering defenders. One last surge from the Defenders knocked half of the Infantry back from their foothold leaving them dangerously split.

Timast cursed as he saw five other small units of the Faithful holding their position, but slowly being pushed back. Urging his men onwards, they drove into a breach and started to fight their way towards the small knot of men in order to reinforce them.

It almost happened in slow motion... Sir Jasper's small unit somehow slipped through the press to attack the Legate of Thulsoma who was wounded by a chance arrow earlier, successful in landing a mortal blow before being pushed back.

Troop Leaders struggling in hand to hand combat and wounded each other simultaneously....

Timast's sword fell again and again, he knew not how many times. Finally, after what seemed three lifetimes, the defenders retreated into the inner sanctum of the Keep, leaving the walls to the Attackers... They had finally breached the Keep and held the walls for the moment.

Wearily, Timast wandered among the camps, greeting those that while previously unknown to him, had become as Brothers and Sisters on this Campaign. He stopped at Lady Alana's tent to find that she had suffered a dueling wound against another troop leader in order to hold their positions on the walls.

Removing his flask containing his favorite brandy from his belt, he to a deep slug of it to ward off the tremors that always come after battle and sat down in a camp chair near her bedside waiting for her to come to.

They weren't done yet, by any stretch of the imagination.

Full of anticipation and vigour Alana and her 7 fit men rushed against the outer wall of the keep again.

Adrenaline rushed through her and she felt at one with her sword, dodging, ducking, slashing and thrusting. Over and over she engaged one defender then another. The Astroist flock advanced steadily, an oncoming tide of steel wielded with determination.

She was part of the first line that eventually breached the walls and she was aware of little else but the need to press forward. Soon there was only one Thulsoman unit left and the Asroists crowded round. Suddenly Alana found herself facing a man with a little more skill and a little better decorated armour. As the battle continued around them they fought back and fore, Alana focused on little but the movement of his sword, mirroring his dance. Weaving around each other the other noble lunged grazing her arm. She barely felt it but took the opening and didn't hesitate. Another body fell beneath her.

When the last men were down and the ceasefire established to recover the wounded Alana finally paused. Despite the elation and satisfaction she couldn't help but notice a pain in her arm. She tried to lift it but couldn't. Touching her other hand to her elbow it came away sticky and dark red. Sighing her vision clouded over again and she folded to the floor.

This time though she came round much quicker. Her arm was bandaged and she didn't feel so bad. Lord Timast was sat next to the bed. Seeing her stir, he offered her brandy and she took it gratefully, trying to hide her grimace.

They were both worn and tired but Alana smiled at her friend. 'We didn't do so bad right?'

Timast smiled slightly at Alana as he nodded. "Aye Lass, the Stars have seen fit to grant us a large victory here and the fortune to set camp within the walls of one of the most barbaric and dangerous nations that we have yet seen in quite some time."

A slightly mischievous twinkle sparkled in his eye next as he continued, "You did very well out there and you and your men fought very bravely! Though please do try to stay away from the pointy ends of things from now on!

Nodding towards the flask he added, "Keep that, ye could use it moreso than I at the moment I wager. Now tell me, what are your impressions of the Keep here? The rumors of this place do not do it justice, it seems quite... Unholy... does it not? We do know that horrible acts have taken place here perpetrated by their Dark Mistress... "

He sighs suddenly and you notice his eyes go slightly vacant. He begins to speak slowly, obviously recalling memories from another time. "Something does not, though, quite feel right lass. When we won the walls, the Saxons were all too eager to retreat into their inner keeps. I fear that we cannot relax our vigilance for even one moment for we are at our most vulnerable here and now within the very nest of the viper."

'It's not my fault the pointy ends of things don't stay away from me!' Alana retorted.

Following his comments about the brandy she protested, 'But Lord Timast it's your favourite brandy and I'm fine!' She waved her arm around a bit to illustrate the point but couldn't help wincing slightly. 'Anyway, I only drink it when I have to, it doesn't taste that great...' she trailed off as she registered his expression as he thought about their situation.

'Storms Keep seems a perfect place for such people to reside. The dark stones reflect the dark nature of its inhabitants, or maybe the other way around. No wonder they were so keen to retreat, to run back into their hole, they must be at home inside such gloomy walls. Unholy...yes. But we will bring the brilliance of the Stars! Like their light we will infiltrate this place, search out their hiding places and smoke out the snakes. We have the Stars guiding us and protecting us, we will be vigilant but not afraid. They will pay for what they have done to our Brothers and Sisters.'

Timast Solacesta nods gravely at Lady Alana, bidding her to stay in bed and rest.

"We shall avenge all of the ignoble acts visited upon our Faithful by their so called Mistress. You keep the flask, lass, it's given me luck throughout the years and I've had my fair share of it already. Soon it is my intention to bring the fight to those enemy holed up within the keep. A cornered rat is much more dangerous than one in the open. It is time to consider... "

Just then a clarion call goes once again signaling enemy forces. Timast stands up quickly and sees Alana struggling to get out of bed. "Lass... Stay put, I'm sure...

Timast never finishes his sentence as Alana surges finally out of the bed, arm held tightly to her side as she grabs a blade and yells over her shoulder as she rushes past him, "I'm fine! This small wound won't keep me down for long!"

Timast smirks slightly and shakes his head, "Well at least ye should be having an escort out there, Lass!

With that, he hurries to catch her as they run out into the inner courtyard to do battle with an apparent uprising of citizens abandoned by their rulers still hiding within the keep.

Roleplay from Bustoarsenzio Peristaltico
Message sent to Message sent to all allies in the region Storms Keep (12 recipients)
Interrupted at least three or four more times by diplomatic news caused by the insane opportunism of Summerdale, Busto finally made it to the Astrum/Corsanctum encampment, only to be the messenger of a sad news.

As expected the troops there were even in a worse shape than Morek's given the distance they had to travel before even spotting Storms Keep, but the mere fact they were present warmed Busto's heart.

He invited the commanders sir Lazarus, Lady Alana and sir Timast for a meal with fresh food coming from Morek -hoping they would appreciate the gift. He was eager to hear their tales on the siege and their opinion on the crusade, but he also informed them or the possibility of an imminent withdrawal due to the annoying intrusion of Summerdale and the weakening of their besieging troops, in addition to the inefficiency of the looting at the moment. It was a sad news and he was unhappy to be the one delivering it, yet he wanted no one to fall behind during the withdrawal, he already witnessed enough tortures inflicted by the vicious saxons.

During the meal he spent many words for praising their courage and devotion, and that if more behaved as they, those keep would be already just a bad record in the history of Dwilight.

"Even if this is merely a token, not comparable with the height of virtue you shown by resisting cold, starvation and fear and keeping your men here under this cursed walls, I reward you with the Morek's medal for military achievements, a sign of friendship and honor which will allow you to be welcome in Morek as long as the rule of stars will hold there."

Timast receives the order to withdraw and frowns mightily. He sighs to himself and slowly knowing that they have dealt a great blow to the Saxons on this day. The Crusade was a successful one, allowing for a crippling of the Saxons and their infrastructure to the point that they will not be able to easily fend off another Crusade once the refit has taken place.

Destruction of their Archer Centers was key, as it leaves them without an ability to hold those walls for long. Leaving them vulnerable to the monstrous hordes that plague regions.

Attending the summons of Granmaster Bustoarsenzio, Timast looked around and saw a small gathering of some of the bravest Crusaders and friends he has ever seen en the entirety of his life. Sitting down to a small feast of Morekian food that he has not tasted in over a decade, Timast took heart in the fact that this is why they were here. Blessings from the Stars see fit to bring us friends, food, and those that he had bled and fought with to be family.

Receiving the Morek Medal of Military Achievement from the GrandMaster was an honour that Timast was not expecting. He gratefully accepted it, but internally resolved himself to see the destruction of this place. If not today, then certainly in the future.

Alana was never most at home during official functions but having Grandmaster Bustoarsenzio come to their encampment and eating with the other crusaders turned out to be much more pleasant. Though she was a little uneasy listening to him praise them all so much, it was good to see him again and to relax a little with the other Astroists, do something other than fight or talk about fighting together. They were the ones that had made it to the end and she was honoured to sit amongst them.

When the Grandmaster presented them with the Morekian Medals of Military Achievement, Alana was speechless with shock but her eyes showed the true intensity of her thoughts. She would see Thulsoma fall so that this award was truly earned.

But for now they would withdraw, though it would be with their heads held high. They had shown the Thulsomans that they could be beaten, the Light of the Stars had trickled into the citadel and it would take them a long time before they returned to the strength they had before. Hopefully the next attack would come well before then.

For now, it would be good to set foot on home soil again.

Honorable Lords and Ladies, Dames and Sirs,

please welcome back our great warriors Marquis Timast Solacesta and Countess Alana Deytheur once they set foot on the holy soil of Corsanctum again.

Their service for Corsanctum and Sanguis Astroism was outstanding during the ongoing crusade and they shall be honored in a matching way. Therefore a festival will be held once they arrive in the Holy City of Mimer to honor their names and deeds and all are invited to take part in it and hear the stories from foreign lands and heathens unsuccessfully opposing our great armies.

I am proud beyond words, so a feast is my way of saying thank you.

Regent,

I have never in my entire existence seen the brutality that had been inflicted upon fellow humans. Despite that, the Crusaders stood strong on attack after attack.

I am so very proud of all of our Brothers and Sisters that were able to severely damage and bring the Light and Truth of the Stars to that cursed region.

There is so much there, that I cannot begin to recount it, but what I can say, is that I feel that all believers came closer underneath our Faith. There was none of the petty squabbling that generally took place amongst the Faithful, and everyone was united and committed to destroying them.
Timast Solacesta (Marquis of Well of Mimer)
