Why home guard

(2003-12-05)

Without a threatening war, Home Guard would seem to be responsible for:
1. Fixing up how happy our regions are.
2. Making sure new troop leaders are capable enough, before being given a more active role.
3. Trade
4. Remaining Alert enough to respond to large looting missions from distant enemies and the like, defending our cities.
5. Killing rogues
6. Training troops.
7. Saving money

At the moment, that's all pretty boring. There are never rogues to fight as pretty much no-one gets kicked, it's unlikely anyone will be sending a raiding force right at the moment, and our tax rate is fairly low so our regions are healthy. A lot of that is More important than main army, Home Guard pay for their existence, it's just more boring.

I suspect you can actually use the caravan to shift food around Darka, but maybe we're not set up for it. I'll bug people to find out what's happening there.

There are those who enjoy the police work or internal trade so want to stay, anyone else showing the basic pre-requisites will probably find themselves in a front line battle group fairly soon.
'Honeymoons'* are often less satisfying than 'wanking'** around home but if you want to join a more combat oriented battlegroup, just ask.

Mode of Operation

(2003-12-02)

Restore regions to Inner Core with normal Police Work, or the Bureaucrat class special ability.
Do an extra 12 hours or so of police work (total, talk to each other to not waste time) after the region is inner core to keep it there for a while instead of having to go back next turn.
To set your troops to police mode, you have to pay them.
Don't hang rebels or do police raids unless specifically requested.

Represent us at Tournaments if the work is done, or sufficient people are already on the job. Always ask first, to make sure.

To Do

(2003-12-02) Work on getting this document complete.
Work out trade, and give advice for anyone wanting to be a trader.
Dunno what else

Done

Going off hand in hand with the rest of your battlegroup, sitting round for weeks in some dull holiday destination with nothing to do but ahem
Another jargon term, police work, holding court, etc
