Background

The son of Baroness Erisha Da Hadez and her secret husband Loris Malay; Ayden and his twin sister Brina were born in the Colonies but shortly after their mother's death were brought by their father to her homeland of Darka where they were raised and educated.

Ayden arrived, as yet nameless, as a newborn in Darka with a raging fever that lasted for weeks. The healers despaired of a cure and attributed his eventual recovery as a minor miracle. In honour of this first trial his father named him 'Ayden'; a name which means 'Little Fire'.

While a diligent and modestly accomplished student of the martial arts Ayden was always a dreamer and idealist. He would spend all his spare moments reading historical sagas or collections of heroic poetry and beseeching his father for one more song, one more tale, one more riddle. Even more than his sister he thrived on stories of his mother's heroic achievements and encouraged his father to recount them endlessly.

At the age of seventeen Ayden left Darka to accompany his sister on a pilgrimage to their mother's adopted homeland of Oritolon. They arrived during a period of intense political upheaval. Ayden quickly made a name for himself as having a knowledge and wisdom beyond his years, actively advising on the reformation of the realm. His fascination with history, skill with words and honest nature led him to be appointed Chief Historian of Oritolon, entrusted with compiling and recording Oritolon's history both past and future.

Sadly it became all to clear to Ayden that the architect of the reformation of Oritolon had a hidden agenda and sought to subvert the realm for his own ends. Ayden was instrumental in bringing this to light, thwarting the attempt and reinstating a government loyal to Oritolon.

He briefly took on the role of courtier, helping rebuild a realm devastated by a string of betrayals, coups and tragedies before being appointed Minister of War of Oritolon, much to his more warrior-like sister's amusement. Nevertheless this appointment was a source of great pride to Ayden as it was a position once held by his mother.
