CHAPTER 2: Ibladesh

I have awoke feeling quite refreshed. The wounds still sting, but not as much as the knowledge that eight of my newfound friends didn’t make it through the night. Tonight will be one of mourning. I and Cedred, whom I have named captain of the Blood, as well as the other remaining ten men are off to Ibladesh City now, to rest and recuperate and to find a good tavern to mourn in and hopefully get some information.

Today I ended up meeting a few of the locals here in Ibladesh. First off I thanked Sceptre. He was on patrol when the monsters attacked and managed to put them down whilst saving my life, so I bought him a drink and talked for a while at a local pub. I learned that it has been well over a hundred days since this country had engaged in any warfare, not too impressive a record if you ask me, but any peace is good. The next person I met was a woman named Sienna who told me of a country to the north called Fontan, and some of the politics when she lived there. I gave her a bottle of wine and she seemed genuinely confused… I guess good Atamaran vintage isn’t seen around these parts much. Sienna also gave me the name of a contact to look up if I ever end up in the Fontan area and considering I’ll be headed there eventually, I thanked her for her kindness.

The city itself is a marvel! I have never seen such a large and prosperous city. Tall chapels and bustling markets, Ibladesh truly has anything one could be looking for. I noticed; however, that the people seemed tense, like a shepherd constantly scanning the surrounding hills for wolves. I decided to put forth a bit of the coin I earned from the killing of the monsters and hold a grand festival in honor of peace and fellowship. Lady Sorcha, the Pontefix of Ibladesh, even wrote to me to say that she approved of my idea. I began preparations immediately! There are rumors of war and a celebration of life and peace would be a good way to ease the tension.

The party was a blast, although the local lords and nobles were too busy too attend. After a night of revelry and debauchery, my men and I decided to gather up our stuff and trek onwards. I must admit that Ibladesh isn’t for me. It is a great nation, don’t get me wrong, It’s just a little too regulated, too strict, too serious. If you can’t enjoy life you may as well be dead! Plus after a few days the ominous feelings began to get to me, coupled with an overly secret council made me more than a little nervous. With that in mind, me and the “Blood” headed east from the metropolis and turned south towards Itorunt. The forest closed in around us and the paths became less traveled. In Orc Lu Pesh, a southern region in the realm of Ibladesh. Along the way I noticed the rusting remains of an epic war fought long ago, a subtle reminder of how peace can be deceiving and that the destructive nature of man must always be held in check.
