The [[Black Book]] was first discovered by the hapless adventurer Diarmid (who claimed--without proof, of course--to be the bastard son of a distant cousin of the [[Aoidh family]]), while exploring the sea caves on the coast [[Az Zarqua]].  There he fought a viscious two-headed salt-water troll, which presumably had found the book in a sea-chest which had drifted near its home, no doubt from some shipwrek.
