Albert decides to become a Hero

Letter A.jpg

lbert was on his way to Wetham to refit. More than a week had passed since he last paid his men, and he could feel their discontent. He hoped he would reach the capital

soon, cash the bonds that he was carrying with him, and give his men what they deserved. They were brave men, and had fought alongside with him numerous times. It was hard, the life of a soldier, always having to be ready to fight for your realm, not once managing to have a proper nights sleep and not knowing if you will live to see the next day. But Albert enjoyed it, he loved fighting for his realm, there was nothing that pleased his ears more that the sound of arrows flying through the air or the sound of swords clashing.

Traveling to Wetham to refit gave him and his men a time to relax and regain their strength. It also gave Albert some time to think and make plans for his future. This particular journey was special, for he had taken an important decision, a decision that will influence his future a great deal. He was going to become a Hero.

Becoming a Hero had been his dream for as long as he could remember. Since he was just a little boy, he had seen a few heroes. He had seen the awe in people’s eyes when they noticed a Hero, he was sure his eyes betrayed the same feeling and yet something more, a longing, a wish to be as they were. People always admired and held Heroes in the greatest respect; priests blessed them in their temples. He knew he had to become one of them, and pledged to himself to do all in his power to achieve that status.

He gained some honor and prestige fighting for Wetham, and he was now able to advance to the ranks of a hero. And he was ready to take that step. The time had come for him to become a Hero!
