The History and Founding of Aurvandil

The Candielian Kingdom and Commonqwealth of Aurvandil; a Monarchy and Commonwealth built upon the founding principles of Sovereignty, Royalism and Chivalry, a centre of civilisation in the Orveandeaux Candiela. Interspersed between the Averothoi Freestate of the east, and the federal Republics of the Veinsormoot in the north.

           His Imperial August, The High Sovereign Mendicant Anhanger, Benevolent Majesty and Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of Aurvandil, Duke of The Imperial City, Margrave of Candiels, King of Madina, Conquérant des Pirates, Foremost Chevalier and Roi de l’Orvandeaux.

Aurvandil is an absolute Monarchy under a political union known as the "Commonwealth", the High Sovereign acts as head of state, presiding over by the Crown and the Commonwealth, becoming the "Highest of Sovereign's". The Kingdom of Aurvandil is unified by the governing system of the Commonwealth in the form of an Absolute Monarchy, whereby the Kingdom is ruled under three duchies and four distinct branches of government, supplemented by the societal caste hierarchy all ultimately tied by oath and service to the High Sovereign. The Gentry of Aurvandil consists of differing classes of nobility, of which for the vast majority the umbrella term "Noblesse Chevaleresque" is applied, which encompasses all nobles who have been knighted and taken oaths to both the High Sovereign, and the Commonwealth as well as their immediate Lord, and as such are entitled as "Chevaliers".

The Imperial Court of the Knightly Nobility of the High Sovereign, circa 16YD; founded and centred in the Imperial Capital of Candiels.

The Duchy of Candiels

Centre of the Commonwealth, administered by the High Sovereign in the Imperial City.

The Marquessate of Evanburg

Autonomous duchy of the north, ruled his Ladyship Sir Sarit, keeper of the eternal treasury, in perpetuity from his fief in Evanburg.

The Margraviate of Fatmilak

Eastern border provinces of the Commonwealth, ruled under a military jurisdiction of the Margraviate, centred in the royal stronghold of Tower Fatmilak.

Laws of Aurvandil

Law Description
Eligibility to the Royal Succession Only a Dame or Knight of the realm who follows the path of Chivalry as a Cavalier are deemed legally eligible to be crowned as High Sovereign of Aurvandil. Anyone who assumes the Throne and Crown who does not follow the path of a Cavalier is considered to have committed High Treason against the Kingdom and Commonwealth.
Eligibility to the appointment of Knight/Dame Hausos At Arms Only a Dame or Knight of the realm who follows the path of a Hero are deemed legally eligible for appointment as Knight/Dame Hausos At Arms at the will of the High Sovereign. Any breach of this law is considered an act of High Treason.


Treason Description
High Treason High Treason requires that the alleged traitor have obligations of loyalty to the Kingdom, or Commonwealth of Aurvandil, the crime of High Treason can only be committed against the High Sovereign of the Kingdom. The only punishment for High Treason is death, subject to the royal prerogative of mercy.
Petty Treason The betrayal of a superior by their subordinate within the realm, punishable by hanging or beheading.

Military of Aurvandil

The military of Aurvandil (Also known as "His Imperial August's Armed Forces") encompasses two official uniformed services under the command of the Orvandeaux Commonwealth and Kingdom. The Commander-in-chief of the military is the reigning Monarch of Aurvandil, to whom members of the forces swear and hold their allegiance to. The military is delegated to the command of the office of the "Knight/Dame Hausos At Arms", a hero or heroine of the Commonwealth. It is also administered by the Assemblée Royale Souveraine de l'Armée du Haut, based in the Palais Haut-Souverain's in the Imperial Capital of Candiels.

Armée de Campagne Royaliste

Founded in the year 14YD, it is the land warfare branch of "His Imperial August's Armed Forces". Created shortly after the signing of the "Act of Commonwealth", it incorporates the Royalist Regiment miliciens réservistes, and the armies of the Gentry. All Chevaliers of the Commonwealth owe military service to the Kingdom and the High Sovereign as apart of their service and oath to the Commonwealth.

Rois Propriétaire Gardes Impériaux The Royal Guard of the Imperial Household of Anhanger, commanded by Sir Hereward Grungir and Sir Atticus Nightshroud. "La Garde Meurt Mais Ne Se Rend Pas!".
Orvandeaux Battaillon Etrangere The Auxillary Army of the Northern Marches, commanded by Margrave Frederick Bickerstaff and Dame Maupin Haerthorne.

Marine Impériale du Royaume

Founded in the year 14YD, though able to trace its origins further, it is the Naval Warfare branch of "His Imperial August's Armed Forces". It's service history and usage consists of ferrying the nobility across the channel to Tower Fatmilak, or otherwise engaging the Pirates at Sea, it has proven itself instrumental in halting the tide of piracy across the Marocciden's. All nobles having had an investiture as Chevalier of the Commonwealth are eligible to have a vessel commissioned at the expenditure of the state, which is then entrusted to them, both for ferrying military forces, enacting naval operations and personal usage. The most notable engagement came after the Capture of The Tower of Fatmilak, in which The Knight Hausos, Sir Allomere de' Striguile, burned and sunk the Western Pirate Fleet at Anchor in the harbour and therein ended the threat of Piracy against the Orveandeaux Candiela.

Lumineaux Royaume The Royal Vessel of the High Sovereign Mendicant Anhanger, a lavishly outfitted and strongly built Galleon which serves purpose as both military transport and floating Palace. Though readily armed and with a company of Margravate Marines the "Shining Kingdom" is rarely used for combat.
L'Épée du Roi The Flagship of the Aurvandil Fleet, Commanded exclusively by the Knight Hausos At Arms, Sir Allomere de' Striguile, First Viscount Zerujil.

Extensively armed and crewed for all actions, She is the fastest and most powerful ship of the fleet.

Aur'Cie Impératrice The Vessel of the Marshal Of The Chevaliers Hausos d'Auzwandilaz, Sir Fal'Cie Nachtmahr.
L'Xaahn'se d'Lemere The Galleon of Sarit Noyan, Duke of The Marquessate and Marquis of Evanburg, Arbiter of Justice and Royal Purser.

A monstrous vessel in size built for more than just military purposes, She is the second most powerful ship in the fleet.
