The History and Founding of Aurvandil

"Serve the Sovereign, Protect the People, Ave Auziwandilaz"

The Kingdom of Aurvandil was founded in the 14th year of the recolonisation of Dwilight, based on the southern Maroccidens peninsula, surrounded by the Maroccidens wilds and the Marwood forests of Barca in the north (Closely situated next to the Zuma lands) and with the Madinan Pirate Collective to the east. Under the governorship of Mendicant Anhanger, and the rule of Grand Dogess Florence of Madina, the city held a great coronation ceremony in which Mendicant Anhanger was crowned Sovereign of all Candiels lands, and absolute monarch of the Candiels peoples, shortly after this the Kingdom of Aurvandil was declared as the new governing body with its Imperial Capital in Candiels, with the Gentry and Commons bound to the High Sovereign under the political union of "Commonwealth".

Aurvandil as an absolute Monarchy under a political union known as the "Commonwealth", the High Sovereign who wields unrestricted power over his Kingdom and people; the lands and government utilise a feudal hierarchy where the lords directly serve the High Sovereign, and the knights directly serve their lords, unaligned nobles form the lowest tier of the gentry of Aurvandil, with only the serf born of lower standing and stature. With the High Sovereign ruling the Kingdom, he designates the control of the military over to the "Hausos Knight/Dame At Arms" to enact his will and whim, ensuring that orders are adhered to and also administered. To grant the nobles at a chance of public oratory over military matters, Aurvandil holds a military council known as the "Assemblée de Royal Sovereign l'armée du Haut", of which entrance to the Assembly are granted to nobles who prove their valour in battle, or otherwise show promise in matters military. For the judiciary of Aurvandil, the High Sovereign delegates the power of judiciary to the "Royal Arbiter of Justice", an electable position (As only some one who represents the people, can truly judge them and deliver them to justice) the Royal Arbiter Of Justice has a variety of powers, and is expected to travel the length and breadth of the Kingdom, upholding law and order at the volition of the High Sovereign when lords are on the march. For the economy and financial management of the Aurvandil Kingdom the duties fall to the office of "Royal Purser" his roles, by and large are to manage taxation and international trade, he has very limited control over the agricultural produce of the Kingdom, save to see a surplus allotted to him, sold and the profits distributed to the lords accordingly.

The landed Gentry of Aurvandil is divided up into a caste system three different ranks; the highest is the Duke of Candiels, the second rank are the Earls (Agl and Candiels Fields) and the lowest rank and standing are the Viscounts (Zerujil, Tubrel and Lusitania) the level of lordship is decided based upon the lands they control, for more vastly populated, and productive regions the lords are Earls, for the the lesser populated and more sparsely developed regions, the lords are known as Viscounts. At current, the Viscountry encompasses the outer rim of Aurvandil, encompassing those lands on the western coastline, with the Earldoms situated entirely around the eastern coast and the city of Candiels.

Laws of Aurvandil

Law	Description
Eligibility to the Royal Succession	Only a Dame or Knight of the realm who follows the path Chivalry as a Cavalier, are deemed legally eligible to be crowned as High Sovereign of Aurvandil. Anyone who assumes the Throne and Crown who does not follow the path of a Cavalier, is considered to have committed High Treason against the Kingdom and Commonwealth.
Eligibility to the appointment of Knight/Dame Hausos At Arms	Only a Dame or Knight of the realm who follows the path of a hero are deemed legally eligible for appointment as Knight/Dame Hausos At Arms at the will of the High Sovereign, any breach of this law is considered an act of High Treason.

Treason	Description
High Treason	High Treason requires that the alleged traitor have obligations of loyalty to the Kingdom, or Commonwealth of Aurvandil, the crime of High Treason can only be committed against the High Sovereign of the Kingdom. The only punishment for High Treason is death, subject to the royal prerogative of mercy.
Petty Treason	The betrayal of a superior by their subordinate within the realm, punishable by hanging or beheading.

Military of Aurvandil

The military of Aurvandil (Also known as "His Imperial August's Armed Forces") encompasses two official uniformed services under the command of the Aurvandilan Commonwealth and Kingdom. The Commander-in-chief of the military is the reigning Monarch of Aurvandil, to whom members of the forces swear allegiance to. The military is directly commanded by the office of "Knight/Dame Hausos At Arms", a hero or heroine of the Sovereign, it is also managed by the Assemblée de Royal Sovereign l'armée du Haut, based in the Imperial Capital of Candiels.

Royaliste Campagne de L'armée

Founded in the year 14YD, it is the land warfare branch of "His Imperial August's Armed Forces". Created shortly after the signing of the "Act of Commonwealth", it incorporates the Royalist Regiment miliciens réservistes, and the armies of the Gentry. All Chevaliers of the Commonwealth owe military service to the Kingdom and the High Sovereign as apart of their service and oath to the Commonwealth.

Marine Impériale du Royaume

Founded in the year 14YD, though able to trace its origins further, it is the Naval Warfare branch of "His Imperial August's Armed Forces". It's service history and usage consists of ferrying the nobility across the channel to Tower Fatmilak, or otherwise engaging the Pirates at Sea, it has proven itself instrumental in halting the tide of piracy across the Marocciden's. All nobles having had an investiture as Chevalier of the Commonwealth are eligible to have a vessel commissioned at the expenditure of the state, which is then entrusted to them, both for ferrying military forces, enacting naval operations and personal usage.
