Evangeline and her men charge over the hill and into Bescanon. They stop

momentarily, scanning the field in search of the huge forces that she had seen

from the walls of Perdan for many days and nights.

There in the middle of Bescanon shivering in fear were 54 archers, left by their

troop leader to defend. Evangeline shook her head. This was hardly a battle as

all.

As the forces of Perdan swarmed towards the brave archers Evangeline scanned the

lines for Sir Austin. She had promised to fight alongside him this time. As the

troops jammed together trying to reach the enemy she thought she saw a glimpse of

him to her far left.

Will that man ever manage to fight alongside me? she wondered to herself.

Austin stood with his troops at the far left of the Perdan battleline, scanning

the field. He thought of his promise to Evangeline to fight next to her at the

next battle...but considering the upcoming slaughter of 54 archers was hardly

going to be a battle, he had not bothered to try to find her in the mass of

Perdanese soldiers.

After all, he thought, I want to be sure to impress her with my swordplay and

command skills, and 54 archers (no matter how brave) are hardly the opposition I

need for that...but I have a good feeling about the next battle...
