The Passeri family is a small family of nobles, far flung across the globe. Scarred by a horrific past where most of the family was slaughtered by an undead horde, the surviving children, secreted in a cellar stronghold from the attack, were sent to live with their eccentric Aunt Mimi in Riverholm.

Rae

The eldest and heir to the Passeri household, Rae is very aware of her duty and always tries to act with honor. She first picked up a sword in the dank, underground cellar to help protect her siblings and cousins and has never been able to put it down. A shieldmaiden of Caergoth, she is first a warrior in all things. She is stubborn, but loyal and idealistic.

Cissa

The youngest sister, Cissa is a hedonist. She remembers nothing of the attack, but knows in her bones that the point of life is to be merry for tomorrow may bring a terrible death. She recklessly drinks to excess, doesn’t like to think too much and enjoys singing as loudly as possible. Even so, she is a kind and generous girl who only wants to make others happy. She has the least ambition as any of her relatives but somehow has succeeded in being named Baroness of Stempleto in Avalon.

Lucina

Cousin to Rae and Cissa, Lucina is an outcast in the family. She was the last person smuggled into the cellar and this caused Rae to irrationally blame her for the slaughter that followed. What started as a grudge grew into outright rivalry between the two, culminating in Lucina sabotaging Rae’s only prospect for marriage. In retaliation Rae banished her from Atamara, never to visit her family’s home again. Lucina is very superstitious and untrusting. She knows that the horrors of nightmares cannot compare to the treachery of the human heart.
