With all due respect, I would like to request reassignment from the Guardians of Ered Luin if indeed Sir Celestial is to be relieved of his secondary command. During Lord Zond's imprisonment, Sir Fury commanded our army with temperance, decisiveness, and daring, showing all of the qualities that mark a man for military greatness. Though I may disagree with some of his personal views, I could not speak ill of a member of my family, even a bastard of a peasant. My life has been saved before by commoners fighting along side me. It is they who truly spill their blood for our crown. Just because they lack the intelligence of nobles is no reason for persecution. Even the basest smelling of flowers, with the sharpest of thorns has power in the hands of a true healer, just as the lowest men of the empire may have use if utilized properly by their lords. I have no desire to fight in an army that punishes the free expression of its leaders and will put pride before intelligent leadership, as Sir Celestial is without doubt the best man for the job. I will, of course, stay on and fight if it is required of me, but I respectfully request reassignment to the Eaglin Eagles if Marshal Kinsey is willing.

There Be Monsters

Where there be monsters, there be Guardians of Ered Luin

Whether old or youngsters, we'll leave them all in ruins

For we march and we march, 'cause it's worth doing

To clear the realm of monsters, we be Guardians of Ered Luin

Through mountains steep and valleys low

We tread where very few shall dare to go

Though snow shall fall and rivers flow

We be Guardians so onward trudge, yo-ho!

Now here we are, and where you be?

No monsters here, they saw us come and had to flee!

In my search for bling bling

Nobles started to sing sing

Because I wanted to bring bring

Something from my older sibling

Alas, it's true. My late grandfather's forays into Eston proved too much to handle for the common womenfolk. He claims that the act happened by divine inspiration, thus the child was named Divine Fury, though I strongly suspect it was more of a divine opportunity that seized the day. Still, the family of Fury are a secretive lot as we are rather hard to name, or so I'm told.

Nonetheless, my brother quests to be a noble one day and can handle any balls any ladies might wish to throw but could they handle... er... his? He is handsome as can be though not so more than me.

Also, how could anyone think I would cheat my own brother, flesh and blood that he is? Certainly I must think of his welfare, rolling around in the mud in his sleep while I have my silk tent and my silk bedsheet. And he certainly could get a helping hand improving his adventure gear like with his rusty knife, though stabbing monsters with it might kill them from infection.

I like to think too that status and priviledges in life are a matter of fate and the life to which one is born in. My brother may yet prove to be the better man. After all, we all put on our pantaloons one leg at a time.

No one gets out alive :P

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

Monsters, you beasts of the realm!

Hear me now you shallow stomach-leading fiends!

You may strike down my men on the battlefield,

You may rip them apart and gnaw on them,

You may knock me down unconscious

But you will never, ever,

And I mean never, ever,

Really mean never, ever,

Rip my Adorned Chain Mail of Strength +2 Prestige

Off my cold dead body!

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

I would have sent this message to the Foresters guild but perhaps there are some issues that deserve the attention of the realm.

There is a small undead army in Hidale, not large enough yet for military action but led by an undead champion whom my adventurer brother could not handle. He will have to rest and try again.

I don't think adventurers in CE are not trying hard enough. I think it's excellent that Hetdrow (if I'm not mistaken) is identifying areas suggestive of trouble. It may be that these adventurers have their own agendas such as looking for or repairing items but perhaps the roots go deeper still. I recall, I don't know who and it wasn't my brother, that one such adventurer said in the Foresters guild "that's precisely why I work in other realms and not in CE", something like that and not my words. I gather that it was the way adventurers were treated in CE - that is with little respect and perhaps bordering on contempt. Then there was a case, very recently,of a peasant achieving noble status after years of dedication who called out for a liege lord. If I remember correctly, he was largely ignored and moved on to greener pastures.

In a hierachical society such as ours, yes peasants are below us. Likewise knights are below Lords who are below Dukes (where does that leave priests?). That brings the question of being below in what sense? - on an imaginary and self-created social scale. It simply doesn't exist not unless the majority maintains it. Then the delusion continues. A caste system based on occupation is fine. Caste discrimination is not. It all boils down to the attitude.

Am I suggesting the liberation of peasants? Granting of priviledges? Societal code does not condone it. More importantly, the System prohibits it. A peasant can be made general (if my research is not wrong) who can then be arrested by a noble. What am I suggesting then? A change in attitude towards peasants. Recognise them as humans. Treat them harshly and they rebel. Treat them unfairly and they move on and offer their services to other realms.

Adventurers do not ask for and receive little recognition from the average noble, until his services are needed, that is.

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

I first wish to pay my respects to Lord Caledor Von Ulthuan, Viscount of Trawiy. I have not had the pleasure of personal correspondence with him and it is my loss.

I also wish to state that I am running as a candidate for the local lord of Trawiy. If I am deemed unworthy then there is no better way than to deny me again. I have been called a troublemaker by some. Of what trouble I do not know. From time to time I hear from friends and noble colleagues that my name is mentioned in the senate. Not being in the senate, I do not know the delicious/salacious? details and I have never asked what they are. It would be an interesting read, I'm sure.

I do know that all I have ever said or done was for the betterment of Cagilan. If my opinions or thoughts differ from the senate and this difference would upset the balance then leaving me out will send that message. But I find that I must speak my mind whenever I have to. If there is something to be said I must say it. If this is considered un-noble, un-knightly and un-lordly, there is nothing I can do about it. For the record, in the current debate, the bottom line of my message was an explanation of and an exhortation to the nobles of Cagilan to treat their subjects better.

I humbly await your decision.

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

Many in Ered Luin are now demoralized by this scandal and many are now said to be unwilling to follow you into battle, let alone allow you to command them... Prime Minister Samuel has already been approached and now asks about a replacement at the behest of other TLs...You are to be relieved of command effectively and immediately. A new SiC will be appointed shortly. Why not ban me as well? For my social views and connections? The Empire can withstand enemy soldiers but shudders when I speak? It can tolerate dissension and disagreements with its allies but not within its own borders? Indeed the quill is mightier than the sword.

The men we lead into battle - are they not peasants? Do they not bond cohesively as they train and fight together along with the TL? Do we not grieve each time we lose men or a Captain? Or is the grief due to our lost gold and effort in training them? Basically, our lost pride and prestige rather than a genuine sense of grief? Showing grief for peasants on one hand and disdain on the other is simply hypocritical.

Social faux paux - It amazes me that me such an issue agitates nobles into heated discussions, requests and accusations and even demoralizes the army. I see no rule, law or tradition that requires a knight to ride roughshod over a peasant. Your squire - he who helps you wear your armour - do you slap him about for helping you don your armour wrong? Your messengers, do you whip them when they get your message wrong? Embarassingly for me, many nobles do. I have never laid the blame on my messengers when it was I who dictated it wrong.

Do you feel no connection with your men? Must any relation purely be lord and servant? Being a lord, does it mean we have to lord it over others? Is this how we inspire loyalty and bond with our subjects? It is no wonder then that our frontline regions are continually slipping from our grasps. The tighter we grip the more they slip away. And yet we continue to appoint the same lords that the peasants, yes the peasants kick out. Then we go back in and hang a few of them to flex our might and show them who's lord.

In this sense, I believe I have shown what it really means to be a noble, of noble blood and noble heart - and not just in name. The accusations against me is a social oppression and I am more sad than angry at my inability to convince anyone.

Good day.

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

Where have I said that we must treat peasants as nobles? I said treat them with respect due to another human being. I know there are many who do not need to feel superior towards peasants or show it in their attitudes. Blood is thicker than water and this saying is even older than our society. I have defended my kin as unobtrusively as I can against societal norms and even then all I asked for was a better attitude - not granting of rights and priviledges as a noble.

Those of us in the Order will know as we will even choose to help members of the Order even if he was an enemy of the Empire (ooc: see Wiki). Peasants have little rights, yes they do have rights - the rights to live and breathe - but hardly any right to go against a noble. I have brought this up because I find the prevailing attitude of nobles towards peasants a disturbing and dangerous trend. If a peasant, your subject, seeks you out for justice, will you not speak out? Read for yourselves and judge.

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

Cagilans,

I am ashamed of many of you. An able and committed Knight is slighted for his father's procreative urges... and by many who have not shown more noble behaviour then my boot-laces have! Sir Celestial Fury is one of the most dedicated and inspired Knights that have ever served Vornion, always searching to better the County and the Empire! He himself is a true noble, of blood and mind, who would rather shed his blood than see an innocent man suffer injustice, who feels compassion for his fellow man and fulfils his duties with loyalty and perseverance!

Yes, he has a bastard brother! Let all of you who are in the same position but have been hypocritical enough to remain silent about it think about what your opposition to Sir Celestial truly entails! As all of us he was born of noble blood and is of noble breading, his sense of humanity and civilisation is even more developed than most nobles I know, and for this you choose to degrade him?!

Yes, Sir Celestial, the quill is ever mightier than the sword, but should only be so when employed with intelligence and skill. Even the quill is powerless against the foul stench of bigotry and misplaced sentiments of superiority…

All Cagilan banners in County Vornion will fly low today, for something in the Empire, what has once made it great, has died…

in honour,

Sir Cullen O'Ways Earl of Vornion

This has to be a fake letter to Celestial Fury. There is no scandal. There is no demoralization of Ered Luin or unwillingness to follow our Second in Command into battle. Relieved of command by who's authority? Certainly not our Prime Minister's. This is ridiculous.

I have bled for Sir Fury and he for me in the heat of battle, defending the empire. All of Ered Luin has bled for the empire. We are all now, and forever shall be in service of the empire. Just because he speaks of those we command as 'friends' in our war camps while having an ale or three before another battle in service of the empire is no reason to punish him.

His position as a SiC should not be in question here. Do not punish him for saying something you believe to be politically incorrect, please. Not everyone feels that way and I would be surprised if anyone in Ered Luin feels that way about him. I will continue to follow his lead and expertise on the battlefield for it has proven to be sound and wise.

If you do not want to listen to his rants in the battle tent then ignore it. I assure you that the next day, when Ered Luin rides into battle with Celestial Fury in its ranks, the troops give 200%. 100% for effort and 100% respect!

Sincerely,

Jeren Mithril Tybonn (Knight of Ansalle)

Lord Samuel,

I'm not a member of the Ered Luin, but I also wish to state that - if I were a member - I would gladly follow Sir Celestial into battle.

I sure hope the letter that was sent to him, is fake and means nothing. Should he be replaced I seriously doubt that this is the Cagilan Empire I've been fighting for - and lost many good men while doing so.

Faeryl Firesong (Dame of Cagil)

Nobles of the Empire,

Prime Minister Samuel also happens to be the Sponsor for the Ered Luin. He has the full authority to switch both the Marshal and the SIC.

As for the call to relieve Sir Celestial, it was I who made that request.

Now some of you are questioning why he was relieved. I shall explain.

Sir Celestial is an excellent fighter and a brave defender of the realm. There is no question about that.

Moreover, he was my pupil when I was Viscountess of Rauxod and a Mentor. He was a very good student, asking lots of questions and curious about the workings of the realm.

However, it has become apparent that I failed to instill in him a sense of the proper heirarchy of the Empire. Nay, the world! I have tried to repair this mistake through conversations with Sir Celestial, but to no avail.

Peasants have their uses. Adventurers (both outlaws and freemen) are very useful. Yet they are still baseborn. We are nobles. There is no crossing of that line. Ever.

Sir Celestial, while an able warrior, cannot be trusted with command over others if he does not recognize this fundamental difference.

This hierarchy is the way of the world.

If one cannot recognize and obey this order, one must accept the consequences.

Thank you,

Lady Renee Quasath Duchess of Nida

Lord Marshal Zond and Lady Duke Quasath,

In Honor and Defense,

Auron D'Koran (Knight of Esgalons)

Knight Fury-

Noble or no, if your willing to take arms and fight the enemies of the Empire, I will reserve a place in formation for you. Just keep a wide birth as I tend to lose sense of friend or foe in the heat of battle. When the battle rage is in my heart it is kill or be killed. My allegiance is to the Empire and my Duke, I care not for politics.

Upon arrival in Trawiy, in honor of Caledor, where should a knight find the ale that he might share a drink with comrades in honor of the fallen?

Dougan Prestongreen (Knight of Skalk)

Duchess Renee,

if you felt that Sir Celestial has done something wrong, you should refer him to Judge Milan, who can then decide what punishment, if any, would be appropriate.

If you do not like Judge Milan's decisions, you are free to run against him in the next election.

With all due respect, I do not recall the realm electing you as Judge. So I believe demanding Sir Celestial's removal is a bit pre-mature.

Sir Enri Kinsey Viscount of Ravening, Marshal of the Eaglin Eagles

I would like to make public my vote on the issue of "Is it tolerable for a noble to consider a peasant kin".

I believe that the answer is yes, if only because we cannot alter the fact that there are occasions where a nobleman has slept with a peasant, and the peasant girl bore a child from it. While that resulting offspring is not a noble, they are kin to the nobleman's legitimate children. I do not see any good reason that the children of the two mothers should be forbidden from correspondence.

I would wish however, that Celestial Fury would quit stating his relationship with his common kin. I'm starting to get the impression that he's proud of the relationship that he has with a peasant.

Jasper Kirias Earl of Ansalle

Celestial Fury,

I don't like to participate in heated discussions but i would like to tell you some words.

You talk about social oppression. What that means? Do you expect anything else when you talk and act as if peasants were our peers? That goes against the roots of our society. I don't whip peasants if there is no reason, i don't believe in such actions but they cannot decide there own fate, if they try they should be punished. That is how our world works and those are the rules, you contribute to them by being a noble. Do you want to change this society? Perhaps you will be happier in a world without nobility, then you should take a sword, join the peasants and change it with blood. If you do, you will see how the same peasants you defend will be the firsts to fight against you.

Sincerely,

Sir Nuno Freire de Andrade (Knight of Eaglin)

Where have I said that we must treat peasants as nobles? I said treat them with respect due to another human being. I know there are many who do not need to feel superior towards peasants or show it in their attitudes. Blood is thicker than water and this saying is even older than our society.

Shanka Foonfa Courcelle, Duke of Cagil has appointed Gorm as the new Viscount of Trawiy.

For as long as I have been here, the Prime Minister was always the one appointing new local lords. Why has the Duke of Cagil done the appointment this time? Was this a personal decision or was political pressure brought to bear? Was this by proxy?

Why was the election not allowed to run its course? Was I the only candidate? Is this a plot to deny me a fair chance? Why did we not see if I had support or not through voting?

I protest, I strongly protest at this oppression, a secret pact of the highest order. It is an abuse of power and process. I urge anyone who believes in justice to protest as well. If this can happen to me it can happen to you. I may not agree with you but I would defend your right to be heard and justice to be served and not to be discriminated against because of it.

To protest is sometimes the only option of dealing with someone abusing his powers, short of leaving the realm. More importantly, however, it makes your voice heard in a way that can not be easily ignored, for it can carry consequences - if many members of the realm protest, the abusive character might even be removed from the position he abused.

I have been advised that this is the risk and the path I chose by speaking that which those do not wish to hear. To this, I say: Nothing ventured, nothing gained... No guts, no glory. And also: if you want to be seen, stand up, if you want to be heard, speak up, if you want to be respected, shut up. I want to be respected but I want to be heard more.

Position is a precarious things. The higher up the social ladder you are the harder the fall. Position is a fleeting thing and what is given can be taken away. Nobles, do not love you position so much that you fear speaking up. Power tends to corrupt and if we do not keep it in check, who will?

Celestial Fury (Knight of Vornion)

Forgive me for correction you Sir Nuno Freire de Andrade, but I do have a sense of hierachy along with a healthy sense of respect and have properly addressed them. It has been said that how we treat our servants is reflective of how we really (in our hearts) treat our peers and seniors. You were most kind in suggesting that I have not been removed yet as SiC so we should not jump the sword so to speak and I thank you for that.

However, your brother is poised to become the ruler of Coria and perhaps you might like to suggest that his rule be tempered with justice and fairness unlike that which I have been subjected to here.

I do too have a clue about how this realm and this senate works. The government machinery (ooc: protest options) does NOT allow me to protest against dukes and from the recent switch in region loyalties I doubt he is behind this (I will stand corrected). The government machinery only allows me to protest against the PM, the General, the Judge, and the Banker. Go through your options to protest and see for yourself. As I said, having searched past records, the PM has been the one doing the appointing. Now suddenly there is a change and I can only make one assumption and as the ruler he must take the responsibility for all appointments.

Will you, Sir Nuno Freire de Andrade remain calm and not heated if this is happening to you? Of course you would not because you will not be in this situation in the first place. I like everyone. I just do not like some of the things they do to me. I don't know if this is personal (ooc: or RP gone out of control) but I protest. I protest with all my heart and might and will NOT go quietly. I have not launched any personal campaign against any noble but I feel the shadows of a pact against me.

What is this fear? Of me? I pose no threat and have threaten no one but only seek justice for my kin and I tried to do so discreetly by talking philosophically in changing the mindsets and not the status of nobles. I seek a change in attitude. Why do you fear that?

Once again power play comes into the picture. Step on the peasants for they are beneath us. Just as we can step on those who are lower in rank than us. I ask: be fair and make peace. Or make hell and let's see where this goes.
