I'm not sure about this, but won't the wiki save this variable, and always update what's shown to the *current* day and time or last edit to the page or something? If the effect is not similar to <nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki>, it would lead to wrong (and messed up, on the long term) dates being displayed, no? :No, when you use the "subst:" prefix, it becomes a '''substitution''' variable. That means that once you hit '''Save''' the variable is replaced with the actual value. Try it in the [[Sandbox]]. Once you save it, hit edit button again and take a look. I was *very* happy to find that one. I'm not sure about this, but won't the wiki save this variable, and always update what's shown to the *current* day and time or last edit to the page or something? If the effect is not similar to ~~~~~, it would lead to wrong (and messed up, on the long term) dates being displayed, no? No, when you use the "subst:" prefix, it becomes a substitution variable. That means that once you hit Save the variable is replaced with the actual value. Try it in the Sandbox. Once you save it, hit edit button again and take a look. I was *very* happy to find that one. The MediaWiki Help pages are great. --Indirik 03:37, 18 October 2007 (CEST)
